I've always liked Carlin, starting back when he was on Imus in the morning.

Several years ago Carlin was a regular on Francesa but they would have some serious "discussions" when Mike would blast RU and Carlin would defend the Knights. I think they had a serious falling out at some point because he is NEVER on anymore and I think part of it was over Mike's attacks on RU. Ever since those days Carlin has been on my good list.

I think the bigger issue is that Carlin still worked for WFAN at that time. He doesn't anymore, so there is no reason for him to wander into the studio.
