More horribly inaccurate journalism. Doesn't anyone fact-check anymore? I'm not a conspiracy guy with the media (although I do think they sensationalize to get clicks/traffic) - I think there's a lot more incompetence than there used to be, combined with no real negative consequences for jumping the gun or being wrong.

Channel 7 is not news nor is it credible just like 2,4 and msnbc these are slanted media outlets with a bias agenda . It has been like that for years. I think many on here are just starting to see that. I cancelled the star ledger years ago because they too are slanted one way and have an agenda

Not surprised. When the arrests first happened last week, Channel 7 reported on their 5pm newscast that the Norfolk State game would be canceled - only to correct themselves on-air during the 6pm edition...

Horribly irresponsible of the Prosecutors office to have announced all five of the arrests last week in the same press release. They really made it seem like all five guys were involved in the home invasion, when it was only Boggs involved (and now Terry).

If I were Barnwell, Stephenson etc, I'd be having my lawyer write legal demand letters to all of these media outlets threatening suit unless they correct this error. I would also sue the prosecutors office for defamation.

One thing out of all this is that KF needs to know where his kids are and what they are doing not blaming him but he fell asleep at the wheel. No more players coach BS he needs to take control especially now more than ever 1 strike and your out

Agree. And Channel 4 reported it the same way this morning...something like "this is the 7th Rutgers player arrested in connection with the home invasions". More lazy and incompetent "journalism".

Jesus christ, the adjectival form of bias is "biased."

Maybe he should install those chips under their skin like they do with dogs. We could hire someone to monitor all their locations on a large map like they do with planes and if anyone goes off campus Coach Flood would be alerted. Or better yet we could install one of those invisible fences around campus and they would get a small shock in their testicles if they stepped foot off campus. You are definitely onto something here.

Or we could have Trump build a giant wall around the Football Complex and have the players take all of their classes as well as sleep at the Hale Center. :cop:

Channel 7 isn't news. They only come to NJ when there are rapes, murders, robberies, or other perversity to report. Most of their "reporters" couldn't find NJ on a map. Or their asses with both hands. Watching the local news for information is like having sex for the herpes.

do you notice that recently they keep doing this breaking news thing every story...as if these stories are actually breaking...they are sensationalizing everything for attention

I cant stand when my wife has the local NY news on in my house. Every other story is about a rape or murder or assault in NYC or some other stupid human interest story. I live 40 miles away from NYC .... I get as much value hearing about these things in NY as I would if I were hearing about rapes/ robberies and murders in San Jose California or Houston Texas. At least watch NJ12 news where they actually do cover local stories... or just put on the national news.

Local news can be odd - and the smaller the market - the odder it gets -
Over the years I have had many various occasion to view Philadelphia TV - and on any given night (no matter what else was going on in the world) there is always a better than even chance that the lead story on the 11:00 news is -
"There's a fire in Philadelphia tonight" .... this dates back at least to the early 1970's - when Mayor Frank Rizzo's brother was the Head of the Fire Department

My question is where is our PR team in all this? We should be at least speaking to more friendly news sources to correct this information. The new do nothing approach doesn't seem to be working.

I just don't have the words. That's a hell of a line.

It only took about 173 posts over the years for someone to notice this. :) And yes, it is far more driven by sensationalism, the need for clicks and trying to be first than actual bias. After all, what would be the bias here? Anti-football? Anti-Rutgers? New York TV stations that rarely cover much about Rutgers couldn't possibly have those biases the way many here believe NJ outlets do.

The best way to avoid exaggeration and misinformation is not to do anything criminal in the first place.

It's partly due to the 24-hour news cycle. There's pressure to get stuff out so there's less time to check for accuracy. And within 24-hours or so, any mistakes that were made are washed out with the new cycle unless they were ridiculously egregious.
