Chipotle. Two for one E-Coli lunch

Just like Subway did after the Jared disaster they will bombard us with an ad blitz and in time all will be forgotten..

Subway bombarded us with ads? I dont recall seeing them since the jared news.

A few years ago they did go crazy with the 5 dollar foot long ads

Jay they pumped up the ads and most certainly didn't shy away from them. What he did was not their fault but they had to go on with subs as usual.

i dont think many people understand how common ecoli is....the same people who complain about preservative laden, over processed, cooked then frozen foods, are the same ones who dont understand that from "farm to Fork" is very susceptible to food borne illness.

there are MILLIONS of restaurants out there....many chains...very FEW have over a dozen outlets that made 100s sick

Shiga-toxin-producing E. coli 026...yuck

ate there once,,,,,,never liked the over-priced place,,,,anyway

i'm just curious what started the thread? This is old news, so why the commentary now?

Disagree about it being bad. Its very tasty, and the way its made makes it very Fresh and quality. i wont say healthy, because if you lop on sour cream and tons of cheese on a burrito bowl, its not very healthy now is it?

factually incorrect

Sourcing veggies direct from local farmers is killing them. Local farmers are not cleaning the cow shit off the tomatoes and we know the minimum wage workers don't clean it like they should once in the store.

They need to go back and buy Agra conglomerate veggies where they have processes to clean the stuff before we eat it.

The RU , I need to 'splain to you my reason for starting an obviously goofball thread about an event somewhere in the news cycle? If you cant handle moronic sophomoric cynical threads then leave this place sir :boxing:

i can handle it... but its not exactly in the news cycle is my point...its like starting a superbowl halftime thread in 3 weeks.

plus as a share holder it directly impacts my wallet.

I've never understood the praise people gave to Chipotle. $9+ for a plate of rice, chicken, diced tomatoes, and hot sauce. I can go to the Rafiqi cart or the Halal Guys and get the same thing for $5.50. *shrug*

I don't think many suburbs have a Halal truck on every street corner.

Yup. They make very little profit per each plate sold. But the halal guys sell a very high volume so they make a lot of cash.

Others have tried to copy the halal guys in smaller cities and most have failed. The NYC metro area is a special place.

Used to eat there all the time. The ecoli didn't scare me away, I just got tired that taste. Burned myself out.

Even in the city, the line was (not sure if it is anymore) out the door. I just didn't get the fad.

its because they're selling fresh ingredients...many of them prepped at each location...that came with risk.

Theres a reason why vegetables are processed and washed on assembly lines...but the second you do that you need to load in some preservatives and boom..now you have the hipster complaining about that too.

Are you putting that past this board? Week 1 is almost down and Super Bowl halftime is still going strong.

Another outbreak in Boston. Employees confirmed and waiting to hear about customers. Maybe the way they serve food has to changed entirely.

Sounds like they closed a restaurant for sanitation because 4 employees are sick and they dont know what they have.

They're protocols for food service are no different than any other chain.
