It can't be long before Francesa starts piling on Chris Mullin about the current state of the Johnnies. Jordanesque.

Superstar players usually do not make good coaches and Mullin was a superstar.
Seems like a slightly better version of Eddie.
He definitely is their Eddie Jordan though he recruits better.
I noticed this as well when we played them last year -- I know they don't show tactical stuff on those look-ins but his words to them sounded like a volunteer dad coaching third graders. Eddie didn't sound like Wooden on his but at least he offered up some vague things to improve upon.I would argue slightly worse. He has zero coaching experience prior to St. John's and it shows. When they mic him up in the huddle it is sad to listen to. Clueless.
They can be good coaches in the NBA, but college is such a different game for NBA coaches to adjust to. Eddie not practicing rebounding, for example. Bird was a great coach in the NBA, but not sure what he could have done with a college team.Superstar players usually do not make good coaches and Mullin was a superstar.
Sanders, Freeman, Williams, Nigel, Laurent, Doorson plus Thiam committed to Eddie.
Eddie was not good here, but he left the program in better shape then he found it.
