It can't be long before Francesa starts piling on Chris Mullin about the current state of the Johnnies. Jordanesque.

Made a little fun of them when they lost to Delaware State.

There was a johnnies fan yelling "Mullins you suck" over and over. That love was short lived.

The St. Johns situation is strange. They have some very talented players. Recruiting is not an issue. They have quality practices - a great deal of emphasis on details. Despite all that, they have looked awful this year. Although young, I am more than a bit surprised that they have been consistently bad.

Seems like a slightly better version of Eddie.

I would argue slightly worse. He has zero coaching experience prior to St. John's and it shows. When they mic him up in the huddle it is sad to listen to. Clueless.

A pack of St. John's fans pulled me aside at halftime of our game today and complimented the team. Said we looked really good.

Then I asked how they felt about St. John's. they said "we suck". And then they said "our coach is awful"

Then we chatted about Eddie and similarities with Mullin. They seemed really downtrodden about their team and future prospects with chris

He definitely is their Eddie Jordan though he recruits better. Appears to be just as clueless a college coach. Talked with some of the old time St. John's supporters at the game and they don't seem too thrilled with him.

The St. John's team looked like a bunch of skinny JV athletes playing against a much stronger Penn State varsity team. Some of the penn state players look like they are 30+ years old.

I noticed this as well when we played them last year -- I know they don't show tactical stuff on those look-ins but his words to them sounded like a volunteer dad coaching third graders. Eddie didn't sound like Wooden on his but at least he offered up some vague things to improve upon.

Superstar players usually do not make good coaches and Mullin was a superstar.
They can be good coaches in the NBA, but college is such a different game for NBA coaches to adjust to. Eddie not practicing rebounding, for example. Bird was a great coach in the NBA, but not sure what he could have done with a college team.

Sanders, Freeman, Williams, Nigel, Laurent, Doorson plus Thiam committed to Eddie.

Eddie was not good here, but he left the program in better shape then he found it.

My point was more that Mullins is a better recruiter and I still believe that..if you look at the kids he's brought in.
