Football Christian Izien declares for 2023 NFL Draft

Could he have came back ? Big loss . He’s a stud . One of my favorite and best players during these bad times.
Good luck Christian !

Disappointing but can't blame him. If had any shot at the NFL, I wouldn't come back for one more 4-8 season. Especially with as many snaps as the D plays. Good luck man. We'll be rooting for you.

Favorite RU player this year - came to play every week. Got to meet his nice parents in Boston - he will be on a roster next year!

Hope he doesn’t sign with an Agent.
Love the guy but he is not getting drafted. Too short.
Free agent look if he wants or come back to RU.

He'll be the same height next year. Highly productive & healthy career.
Just needs to show good 40 speed on proday.

Wish him the best but he would be even more of a monster if he came back. Think he could be garnering all B 10 and some national accolades. The guy is aflat out good college player.

He's already been in college 5 years. Not everyone needs to be in college into their 30s. Time to move on and get ready for the pros.

He was excellent this season. Would have gotten all conference looks if he was on a better team.

Waiting for Shelby65's comment.
In fairness, Ash and Bill Busch took a chance on a 2-star prospect with no other P5 Offers. He was pretty much a star from his freshman year in 2019.

His commitment thread was mostly positive, but a few boobirds:

Interesting what Kessawn Abraham told Izien about Rutgers--I believe in giving credit where credit is due--while Ash bombed overall, he did some things right, and he did not leave an empty cupboard (except at OL):

“I’ve talked to Kessawn about Rutgers. He's told me things like how the school is very committed to getting you there, especially once they offer you. Also, the staff and players are always in contact with each other. I plan on taking my official visit to Rutgers sometime after the season is over.”

A fair point, but who had him for the last 3 seasons?

BOOM!
This is how I would look at it if I was his parent. Is he graduating with his Rutgers degree? If yes, you declare- nothing more to gain and only something bad could happen.
Kid has had a hell of a college career- he isn’t going to be able to show anything next year that he hasn’t already shown.
Sign with that agent, bust your ass for the next couple of months and even if it is as a UFA- take your shot now. Worst thing that can happen, you start your real post football career a year earlier. On the other hand- make a team and get an extra year of NFL earnings.

Going to miss him though!!!!

4-8 ? How many times are we playing Wagner ?
