College Football Playoff meetings not about expansion. It's about college sports survival

One thing I have not seen the sports media dig into is the possibility of certain politics bleeding into college sports revenue.

The US and New Zealand are the only countries that allow direct to consumer advertising by pharmaceutical companies. The new admin has talked about ending that, and if it came to pass it would be a $15 billion+ annual advertising customer disappearing from the media companies that pay the college sports revenue.

I miss the days that pharmaceutical ads were not allowed.
They were allowed starting in the mid-80's, but under strict rules. Those rules were relaxed in 1997. Now it's a free for all and I'm going to guess very few people are walking into their doctors office saying " hey, doc, while I was watching Rutgers play Nebraska this Saturday on TV I saw an ad that said something about the itch I have on my top shoulder. Can I get that drug? You know, the ad with the 2 people gardening?"

It's gotten to the point where you can't watch TV anymore without getting depressed about the various medical conditions and diseases that I possibly might contract as I get older. The commercials also mention acronyms as if everyone knows what they are. "Do you suffer from ASD? Ask your doctor about Homytacid24". Then the entire cast of the commercial breaks into song and dance to a song from the 80's with new lyrics about the wonders of the drug. Isn't that the script of every pharmaceutical commercial?

US pharmaceutical companies are crack dealers with MBAs.

The ND v OSU title game had lower ratings than the Michigan v Washington game - but it was still the second most watched TV event after SB.

Cable TV and streamers have nothing much to offer aside from sports so everyone will be chasing the sports money. People of all ages will spend 1-3 hours listening to podcasts but fewer are those who want to watch TN news or endless reruns of Modern Family. More playoff games means more money so that's that.

That's why there were 47 bowls games in 24-25.
