Columbia Visits Rutgers on Monday

Columbia also plays on Saturday against Fairfield which means little time to prepare for Rutgers.

Good chance we lose this matchup
If by "good chance" you mean 15% then sure.

We will be favored by double digits. Let's stop the panic. Columbia is 10-1, yes. Let's break down their 10 wins:
- A low level Q1 win at Nova (not bad)
- 7 Q4 wins
- 2 non D1 wins

They also have a Q3 loss.

Sounds like Princeton. Hmm.....

Princeton is a better team than Columbia and it was on a neutral court. And we would still win that game ~75% of the time.
Of course we should win. Our talent should overwhelm Columbia. It shouldn't be close.
But.....

Who have we overwhelmed all season? Assume nothing with this group as you truly have to watch what happens, they are like a Bravo reality TV drama that fits the slogan “watch what happens”. I feel like they can beat anybody on their schedule and lose to anybody on their schedule, and that’s not a good thing.

They play 2-3 zone, we better be able to dribble drive and kick. Feed the middle

Columbia wins going away. Best player scores 22 in the second half. They are going to kill us on the boards.

Not true.Princeton has defeated Rutgers four of the last five games because they run a half court offense that Rutgers hasn't been able to defend .

ChatGPT guy strikes again.

Three of those five games occured from 2011-2013 so you'd have to be a real idiot to think they have some relevance to today. But yes, Mike Rice's failure to defend adequately against Princeton's half court offense in 2011 in a game in which we lost, um, 59-57 (lots of offense!) definitely bodes poorly.

Lmao

Damn, these threads… I really can’t stand our “fans” sometimes. Columbia is good and they will be a challenge, but some of you act like the 1990 UNLV team is coming in to truck us. Get a grip already.

Who said Columbia is anything remotely comparable to UNLV 1990?
Because this thread acknowledges they run an organized half court offense that has historically given Pike’s defenses problems, you find the observation insulting?

We have played Columbia twice under Pike.

12/22/18 Columbia scored 65 points against us in a game that went to OT
11/17/22 Columbia scored 35 points.

I.. would not say they've given his defenses problems.

I give no thought to our history with Columbia.
I think of our current team vs their current team.

Okay what about the last two seasons.?Rutgers still can't defend Princeton's half court offense and the coaches fail to make adjustments.

I saw a good part of the game. Incredibly sparse attendance.
Interesting line from the game for Columbia 6'10" big man Bedri.....6-7 from the field with 17 rebounds and 7 assists.
Their star guard Rubio De La Rosa didn't do much in the first half, but was pretty much unstoppable in the second. He is a handful.

What about them?

Princeton was better than us last season so it’s not surprising we lost though the score was 68-61 so defense wasn’t really the main problem. Princeton is not better than us this season despite the result of a single game that we lost by one point.

Basic problem is that while Columbia runs an organized offense, Rutgers does not.

By far the best performance at the RAC at both ends of the court.
