First and foremost, major kudos to Hollivay for toughing it out tonight. It was obvious to me that she was in a lot of pain and really gutted it out. Also Tyler was awesome out there and very steady as was Kaleah. But my biggest biggest praise has to go to Laney. She was a warrior out there. The commentators talked about Betnijah getting more touches in the 2nd half, and she just took over the game. Those two threes were money, when we had let our double digit lead slip away.

And kudos has to go to C. Vivian for switching from man-to-man to a 2-3 zone. That forced Seton Hall out of their comfort zone and made them shoot more jump shots than I think Bozzelli wanted them to shoot. I also understand why Stringer chose not to press in this game. With Syessence down, and Hollivay hurting, it would have been too difficult to employ the 55.

The only negative I saw was the amount of turnovers. If we had cut our turnovers in half, this game would have been a twenty point laugher. As it was, it was a great first round win. Now, onto UCONN, which I will reiterate that the NCAA really screwed us big time by putting us ONCE AGAIN in the UCONN bracket. Yes, we had the slide down the stretch, but there is NO WAY in my mind that we were the lowest 8th seed going into the tournament. But then again, we made our bed and now we have to live with it. I just wish that this team was in another bracket, because I honestly feel as if we could have made a run possibly into the Elite 8, but definitely at least into the Sweet Sixteen in another bracket.

In any case, GO RUTGERS. Play with your hair on fire, and scare the living daylights out of UCONN!!!

For what it's worth, it's most likely that, the way they do the brackets by slotting teams geographically based on where they are on the S-curve (which in my opinion is remarkably stupid), RU was the highest #8, not the lowest #8.

And I second the motion on the last point - maybe CVS can arrange for Piph to talk to Kahleah or Tyler about her 30+ point game to upset the Huskies.

Beknighted, good points regarding Piph. But do really think that they would have the highest 8 seed playing against the number 1 overall seed? I don't. I still think we got screwed and shame on Dru Hancock for allowing it to happen. Before and in the past, I thought Stringer was being slightly over-the-top with her complaining. But when one looks at where we've been slottled over the years, we have DEFINITELY not gotten propitious seedings at all. This one in my mind takes the cake.

Congratulations to our ladies. We were at a huge disadvantage without Syessence and with Hollivay really playing on one leg and we outplayed Seton Hall. SHU had 3 starters in at least their 5th year and we won the game anyway. Seton Hall seemed so psyched for this game and talked all week about wanting to beat us so bad. This was a sweet win.

Lets just go out and beat UCONN, slow down the tempo. RU has nothing to lose, nobody expects us to win anyway. Let's bring it to them. They still have to play 40 minutes, let's make it tough on them. Go RU

Congrats

Believe it or not, that's the official bracket principle. I won't say that they don't ignore their principles when it's convenient (including setting up games they think will get better ratings), but it's really the likely explanation here. In fact, it's the convenient explanation, since they can say it's just the way the bracketing principles worked out.

Knee issue

I would think the ncaa committee would have thought to put Princeton up against Uconn to really play up the drama

Woohoo! I'm very proud of the team for winning their first NCAA tournament game in years.

Also, though I know many of us don't really miss the Big East, I noticed that 8 of the 32 teams are from the Big East of 3 years ago. That's a quarter of the remaining teams.

Torn medial collateral ligament for both Essy & Rachel but Essy's is a lot worse than Rachel's

THAT Big East was the nation's best women's basketball conference so it's not too surprising.

Congrats to the RU women for the nice win last night. Good luck on Monday.

Nice win. They answered the bell when SHU made a couple of runs. I truly believe the better team won.

very nice. I sure wish we were at full strength and in another bracket. I too think this team could have made (well still can!) a nice run..
