Cool Rutgers Video

Heaven, quick comment, why post over here? Your comments about women's BB posted on another board are pretty negative? Not looking to call you out, but?

No, no, no. I am a fan and had season tickets for a couple years back in the Sue Wicks/Regina Howard days, driving 90 minutes each way. I do have two issues with the program, though. For years and years, our recruiting in New Jersey is abysmal. I have been told the Shore players and coaches want nothing to do with the program. Every year I see the All Shore players and they head everywhere except Rutgers. While we could do much better recruiting in every sport in state, this has got to be the worst team. Let me say I have never met Coach Stringer in person, but I have been told she has little interest in marketing and selling the program. This affects both recruiting and ticket sales. The crowds are pathetic. In a state of NINE million, to get crowds of 2,100 is unacceptable. If she herself is unable or unwilling to drum up interest , then someone on the staff needs to. This is not football, where the sport sells itself. The night she got her 1,000 win, we couldn’t even get 8,000 to sell out our small arena? The coaches in the program make a lot of money, much more than wrestling, and wrestling has 3,000 season ticket holders and averages 5,000. I can’t imagine being a star player coming from half way across the country and playing in front of a small arena that is only a quarter fill. I have been saying this for YEARS now—go back to doubleheader’s for as many games as possible. As long as my schedule permitted, I always watched both games. Will some money be lost in ticket sales—Yes. However, you will have a significant increase in the number of early arrivals and later departees who will be buying sodas, hot dogs, pretzels, shirts, hats, etc. Ok, I am off my soapbox lol. Just my two cents.

Thanks for responding. While I could debate your response on some of the issues I won't on here. That's because we would go around, and around and end up talking about racial, and sexuality issues just to name two. But, I still believe some of your likes/comments on one thread on the football board come across as inappropriate. It's not just you, but there have been some real despicable comments on both the men's BB, and football boards of late. Even on the thread regarding Duke's WBB cancelling their season(which I did not start). Some folks won't post their garbage on this board. Also it is a long time fact that the mods, some not all, do nothing to stop the ignorant remarks. OK, enough from me.

I won’t be posting in this thread again, but I have been a Rutgers sports fan since 1976. Chris Ash, Fred Hill Jr., Kevin Bannon, Terry Shea, Mike Rice , and Dick Anderson have three things in common. Two are obvious and the third is they were HORRIBLE coaches at Rutgers. Some just didn’t get us to bowl games/NCAAs and some were screwballs that embarrassed the university. Don’t think I have ever heard anything like that about Coach Stringer.—Go Rutgers !!!

I just want to share one thought about your earlier post - quite accidentally my wife and I had a bit of contact with CVS (which doesn't mean she would know who we were), her late mother and a few other team related folks very shortly after she became coach. There are 2 things that were made crystal clear in our contacts - CVS wanted nothing more than to recruit in NJ, as she did so successfully at Iowa, but she was never able to make inroads at a lot of schools (she did get Essence, Kia, others from the general area). And she also made very clear that "tell her where to be to promote the team and she'll be there" but unfortunately, little was done to take advantage of that at that time.
