He looks thrilled in that picture. Guess that's what happens when plan C becomes reality. Good luck to him, glad he's not at Maryland.

I'm sorry - that kid is an idiot. All you "he's just a teenager" guys have to admit this guy played the field and wasted a lot of schools' time and money. Also makes me think Maryland included him yesterday just to boost their final recruiting rankings - you think they would offer him a ship without knowing his academics? C'mon man!!!

This is the funniest recruit I've ever seen. Let's recap his last 7 days

-says he is 90% sure to ole miss
-takes RU official
-named top three of UCF RU MSU
-postponed signing day to visit MSU
-cancelled MSU visit.
-committed to Maryland on signing day
-signed with UCF on day after signing day

That's incredible!

And, his sister said, "you can do better then Rutgers" paraphrased. LOL! Central Florida is one of the biggest party schools in America. Yeah, he will do much better there. But, he will qualify.....

Actually, Maryland genuinely wanted him (not for the stars). Granted it was at LB but still.

I'm just assuming Richardson felt he had a better chance of getting qualified...or he really wants to play RB.

my question is what happened after that Maryland video came out? Wouldn't they expect him to fax the NLI in?Did he just go home and change his mind? He just made a video and then didn't legally sign anything?

Yeah, he never signed a NLI with Maryland.

Supposedly, he was going to visit campus this weekend (or next) and deal with his academic situation.

Perhaps the early signs of a mental health disorder.

I'm sure Maryland didn't have a spot.

I see it as a kid with massive academic issues looking for someplace that would bring him in more than someone playing the field looking to be showered with attention. The fact that so few were unwilling to allow him to sign is why I suspect he was looking around so desperately towards the end.

I feel bad for the kid. Clearly getting some poor guidance from family and/or coaches (or ignoring the guidance he's getting). Goes from being a highly desired recruit by some big name programs to a laughingstock that ends up at UCF.

If he chose Rutgers, I would have waited to be happy until he was a matriculated student. Would not be surprised at all if he ends up having to prep for a semester and goes back on the market next fall if what has been rumored/reported is true...

Maybe his pen ran out of ink, so he didn't technically sign?

Pretty sad, odds are against him with that many moves prior to committing, hopefully Frost can be a good influence and he can make the most of his time in college academically and athletically

The good thing for Maryland fans is that they did not spend much time getting excited about him. His "commitment" yesterday was a surprise to pretty much everyone. Even after the announcement most fans realized that he was unlikely to see the field next year (if at all) so that tempered any excitement.

Most fans seemed to view his commitment as a nice surprise but not much more than that. So losing him won't hurt, especially since they already have one of the top running backs signed.

Would love to know how the UMD thing came about. It was really out of the blue.

Space is a funny thing. Apparently he was knocked off course during re-entry and instead of landing in College Park he wound up in Florida. I don't blame the kid, I blame his navigator.
Space travel requires some high end calculus, which I'm doubting was a strength.

Oh dag, that would be taking the Huggins hat switch aroo fake out move to new heights.

"Here I am signing to Md, ah man pen is out of ink, let me grab my UCF pen" With the UCF fans going crazy in the back ground.

Guess the transmission from outer space to earth got scrambled and the translation was incorrect.

Recruiting has become the wild west of sports. I think it has reached the point where you just can't take anything seriously until March. I don't blame the coaches or the players, it's just a systematic cluster. I don't know the answer, but basketball seems to avoid 75% of the wackiness involved in football recruiting. There must be some solution to make the process a little easier for everyone involved.

They never sent him a LOI to sign, they were not recruiting him.

Wow that is great. I that case I would like to announce my commitment to USC. Sorry for the flip RU fans but insert the standard I am blessed bs and close my statement by saying I cannot take questions at this time.

If he is not able to get through the NCAA Clearing House - he is not getting on the field - does not matter where he goes to school - other than prep or JUCO

slide_11.jpg

The NCAA is clear on minimum GPA - and they put together an informational campaign to get it across - "2.3 .. OR TAKE A KNEE"
- oh and - the recruit grants the HS permission to release his transcript electronically to the NCAA,
the NCAA reviews and if needed, re-calibrates GPA point values and scrutinizes classes taken for any deviations from the requirements.
Not much room to 'tweak' the kids records

I think a lot of people are misreading the situation. I think this is a kid who schools wanted, but as they were realizing they couldn't get him admitted/qualified, were backing off. Maryland was absolutely "recruiting him" just like we were. We were just the last ones to realize that, apparently, he has no shot at qualifying.

HOW THE HELL DID ASH LOSE A FREAKING 4 STAR RB TO UCF? He better not lose these types of kids to G5 schools next year or his Ash is toast!

you know the rules of this game - the take away message in the media - the final headline for the story must be -

"Maryland Four-Star recruit FLIPS to UCF"
