Corey Bolds Official Visit

200_s.gif

This is a change because he announced earlier he was not taking an official visit to Rutgers. I wonder if some of his opportunities did not pan out as he expected. I also wonder if other DTs we were recruiting have not been as interested. His senior season was good but not as dominant as many hoped. This would be a nice get at this point because we need DTs in this class and we need to establish relationships with Paramus Catholic and the other north parochials.

That's all great that he's still in the mix, but again, I can't help but to feel all his other offers are no longer there. I just feel like, as with all of these top NJ kids, they are begging for an exit, and when those potential offers dry up, then they look to RU to fall back on. Reading the news article, seems like OSU, Michigan, PSU, got there top targets at DL, so now he's falling back on his last hope for a free education. I say forget him! We need kids who want to be here, obviously, he doesn't.

Paramus catholic players are Michigan locks unless there's some reason harbo isn't sold on them. So either that, OR, not to be suspicious, but maybe harbo is telling him go see what Rutgers says on players visits, so UM can do his 100% best to smash us in NJ recruiting

That's what flood did. The results weren't exactly encouraging with a bunch of "Rutgers guys" the last 2 years. When you go 2-10 you become a fall back school for some players. It is what is. RU is in no spot to turn down talent.

That's a pretty crazy conspiracy theory...no disrespect intended.

There is ample history to provide justifications for being wary of recruits from Paramus Catholic - even if they were all purely coincidental. In particular, there was one instance last year where it originally looked like a smidgen of progress was being made - RU offered a PC player who was seeking a major program opportunity ... and the PC player immediately committed to RU ...then another school finally offered him & in the blink of an eye - the kid flipped - it certainly appeared like RU had been 'played' - had simply been used as leverage to get this PC player an offer from that other school - which he took in a heartbeat. There were many questions about how much the PC coaching staff was settling old scores & involved in 'orchestrating' all of this. Some felt that this had an unpleasant aroma to it .

That having been said - like relief pitchers and defensive backs - recruiters have to have short memories - RU has to look at each recruit as a new opportunity & earnestly pursue all that appear to "fit" with vigor. If Bolds could be a vital contributor - he should be treated to the very best persuasive effort possible.

Are you talking about the TE that flipped to Boston College? If so, wrong school.

You're referring to the TE from BC, not PC who flipped a week later to Boston College.

To those saying he had a terrible year care to elobarate?
You need to understand the mindset of the anti-Ash and negatoids: It is one of the following:

1. If Bolds goes somewhere else, Bolds is a world beater and Ash whiffed-cue the crying.

2. We are not recruiting Bolds because he is not good or had a bad senior year.

3. Bolds is only coming to visit RU to steal information for Michigan.

4. Bolds is only coming to RU for a visit because he has no other options. If he comes to RU, he is not that great.
-----
I say, maybe he is genuinely interested in RU and Ash is making inroads at PC, and he will make a fine player at RU.

I've seen a few games Bolds played via TV/internet , against good opponents (N NJ Parochials). He has a tendency to take plays off, not always play hard. But when he does turn it on, he gets good penetration into the backfield, and has good athleticism for his size. He's worth a schollie for sure, hoping he can get in much better condition and be coached up;

Where's the poster who has been swearing up-and-down - shooting people down while doing so - that we aren't recruiting Bolds?

That's very hypocritical. Coaches interview for new jobs and better opportunities all the time. Coordinators leave, coaches leave, but players are supposed to be 100% committed. There are players in the All American game who haven't committed to schools. There are players in the All - American game who are turning down Ohio State and Alabama. If he wanted a better opportunity we shouldn't hold that against him. Flood lost half a class doing dumb stuff like that. Big time players. All that matters is they sign February 1st. If Bolds wants to come, we'll gladly have him. We are Rutgers, not Alabama. We need all the help we can get.

Anytime anyone mentioned him that guy swore we weren't recruiting him.
