Middlesex County's government plans to spend $18 million in the next five years on three arts projects, including one that could drastically transform the New Brunswick's theatre district.
The plan calls for the demolition and replacement of two of city's three major theatres, the Crossroads Theatre and the George Street Playhouse.

I approve. George st Playhouse building was originally the YMCA where I had swimming lessons and its new function as served the community superbly. Unfortunately the Playhouse is constrained by its limitations when competition from other theatres nearby is increasing (Princeton McCarter Theater, Redbank Count Basie Theater).
Crossroads has been limping along for almost a decade. Let's hope the new building will include space for cinema
