Yes and if I recall correctly, they were part of that MSG tripleheader when we destroyed nationally ranked Cincy - my first in-person Rutgers basketball game. All the best to Dean!
UNCC made the Final Four in 1977, a year after Rutgers.

I was there. Great day. Total annihilation of a heavily favored team.Yes and if I recall correctly, they were part of that MSG tripleheader when we destroyed nationally ranked Cincy - my first in-person Rutgers basketball game.
Guessing he will be a valuable piece for them.I felt like he never got untracked last year after his preseason foot injury, and was playing without any confidence. Hope he has a nice bounce back year next year.
Cedric Maxwell. There's a blast from the past. Great player on those early 80s Celtic teams. All the best to Dean!
UNCC made the Final Four in 1977, a year after Rutgers. UNCC was led by Cedric "Cornbread" Maxwell and Perth Amboy's Chad Kinch, who died way too young.
Well, I was able to answer my own question. South Florida did play that day, lost to pre-Jeff Ruland, Jim Valvano coached Iona.I was there. Great day. Total annihilation of a heavily favored team.
In addition to our win SHU lost to UNCC. I sat next to Chad Kinch’s family and they had a huge grudge against SHU because Kinch expected to go there and Rafftery first surprised him by pulling the rug out, then tried to get Kinch to flip back after someone else dissed SHU. Maxwell was impressive.
Am I correct that South Florida played as well that day?
