As most of you already know, the Rutgers football team doesn't have a ton of experienced depth at the safety position on defense.

In new beat writer Chris Nalwasky's first piece with TheKnightReport, he takes a look at the current situation of the Scarlet Knights' last line of defense in his article right here.

As good an article as has appeared at either site, thanks. It’ll be interesting to see what Avery’s role will be. Based on reports and background, it’ll be hard to keep him off the field, I think. Though depth is a concern.

The lack of depth makes the Kiy Hester transfer seem even more strange. It's not like he wouldn't have playing time here. Plus he has a huge Rutgers block R tattoo.

Hampton and Gray are top notch in the Safety position.
I thought Tank Lopez was making progress and would be in the 2 deep.
Need to stay healthy early in the season at this position.

He must of thought his playing time would be lacking. Whether that was his own thinking or from Ash, who knows.
