Did anyone else see our boy Russo live at the Elite 11 semifinals?

I watched some of this purely just because Russo was their and I wanted to see how our dude performed. He looked real steady out there and not nervous at all which I like because in the BIG10 you must have a quarterback who can handle the pressure and the big games.

Also, I liked the way he looked physically out there.... he much stronger and thicker looking than most of the guys out there and also he was right up their in height which I didn't realize.

Also, he was rocking a bandana which I loved because one, it shows he has some personality and two, I could spot him out immediately out of all 30 of the players.

Keep up the good work out there Russo and good luck!!!

Isn't he the only two star QB there? Go ahead, Anthony, and shove those star ratings right in the "experts" faces!

i like that kid Duffy, hes small but man he has a cannon for an arm. 247 is the site to use for rankings based on the composite scores they do, not Rivals, everyone knows this. its just 247's message board is not good, Rivals is much better.

I like the composite rankings but I don't care for 24/7's individual rankings. They have to large a spread inside their rankings. There are very few players below a 3*. Their lower ranked 3*'s are the same as a 2* on Rivals or Scout because their 3* range is huge. I prefer Rivals system better. That is not to say their ranking per player is better, I just like their break points better. I do wish Rivals would do like one of the other sites(can't remember which one) where they also give a rating for the specifics of the players position. For a QB they assign a ranking of speed, footwork, release, arm strength, ect. That helps a person understand why a player may be ranked how they are. I think it would calm some of the dislike for Rivals rankings if they gave a "why" a player is ranked how they are. JMO.

Duffy will fit well in that offense at TT.

Not up on this stuff. Does this mean he got invited to California to compete for the top eleven? Is that how it works?

he got selected from over 1,000 QB's to compete in the top 30. Of the top 30, they take 18 and those 18 compete in July on ESPNU to form the final 11. I believe thats what they said yesterday on the feed, and I think the decision is made this week. 14 have already been selected, and there are 4 spots remaining. someone correct me if I am wrong on that. Husker, i agree with you, there needs to be a site that has all encompassed into one. I handle a sports site now so I am always looking for improvements to any site but heres what I see - for instance, ESPN i think once they have evaluated a player, they do the best overall player synopsis, strengths and weakness, however, their ranking system is out of whack. everyone is a contributor according to their rankings and thats just not the case. 247 does the best in terms of player recruitment, i.e player alerts on decisions, announcements, camp news, updates to commitment list etc. Rivals to me has the better video breakdowns, player interviews and obviously fan message boards. Scout, I don't really use or MaxPreps. boy there are too many websites out there haha

I believe 12 have been selected (8 Regional winners + 4 this weekend) and 6 spots remain open

I think only 2 have been added with 8 to go unless added in last 2 hours. There were the 8 winners and 2 added from semi's so far.

2 added on Saturday (kid from Michigan State and Patterson) and 2 added yesterday (other kid from Pennsylvania-USCe commit and Costello)

Now that you show me I recall the first 3 but don't remember seeing Costello added. I'm wrong.

The wrapping up of the selection process appears to be being "managed" - - - sounds like there are a few sort of "legacy" QBs -- who have been promised that there would be no embarrassing down side to participation - because they have been assured of making it into the final (even if they had an 'off day').
Then there were the "surprises" - ones like Russo who were not really anticipated to shine brightly -
So it could be that the "surprises" were given praise and pats on the back & were told in non-specific terms "look forward to good news" - you will hear on Wednesday - - - - Wednesday? why the extra wait? ...
now it could be:
(1.) that the organizers have bought time in order for the organizers to 'discover' that one or two of the under-performing 'legacy' QBs actually has a suddenly unavoidable 'scheduling conflict' that would make it impossible to attend the next round - clearing the way for the inclusion of the "surprises"
or
(2.) the organizers are just letting a bit of time pass & the spotlight to move away from this session - so that the organizers can turn around and let the "surprises " down gently - saying - gee you did great - you are going to shine in college ... Ah but we had to draw the line somewhere - would have loved to have you come back - but we were maxed out .

They said from the beginning it would be a few days before all finalist were announced. I think they break down all parts of the entire event from the 7on7 to the written exams and the interview stuff. The kids are monitored the entire time they are there and everything counts. Even how they handle themselves when they had personal time at the camp.

Anyone thought about the possibility of him blowing up and getting recruited out of our hands? Right now he looks like a decent get to many, but it would not be the first time we were picked first and then left at the alter.

Read his quote in the si.com article on what he says about the term "commitment". Not worried at all

Also not worried because a lot of these kids from Elite 11 are already committed. most schools have their '16 qb all wrapped up

nothing yet today? looks like only 4 slots remain

TUESDAY - June 9th - Texas Longhorns pledge Shane Buechele picked up his invite - becoming the 13th invite to Elite 11 Finals,
TUESDAY - June 9th - Oklahoma State commitment Nick Starkel was informed that he was officially the 14th quarterback

Interesting - had heard general comments like this - but had not heard the exact amounts - - there were eight quarterbacks who already earned a spot in the finals coming up in July, but still participated in the two-day competition.

I heard the same thing. It's strange in a sport all about competition, and an event all about competition, that the top guys get byes and are in the finals no matter what happened at the semi finals.

The elite 11 are in a strange position here. They promote competition, but don't demand it of the 8 guys who are already in the finals. Somebody already mentioned it, and I think they are on to something, they probably do this to make sure they get the top guys to go to the semi-finals. If it truly was equal competition and one of the top 8 has a bad weekend, and doesn't go to the finals, the player and the elite11 would have egg on their face.

In my opinion, they should have a grading system, stick to it, and the guys who perform at the semis should go to the finals, no matter what their rating is. But Nike and elite11 will never do this and take a chance that the top ranked guys won't be in the finals.

This will have little impact. If he has a great season then maybe but colleges don't recruit based on how well they look in shorts and t-shirts. It might get a few more schools interested in seeing his film this year but don't expect a slew of offers based on this.

Based on what this young man did leading his HS team last year and what he did in the part of the Elite competition most similar to a game situation, I would not be surprised if this young man turns out to be a special qb at college.

Hope you're right.
I think with a redshirt year and Anthony getting more time developing his RS freshman year, and a back-up his RS Soph season, by his RS Jr year AR might have developed into a quality QB with a chance to be considered one of the better B1G QB

For all those who claim to be realists : I'm looking at this positively and will let you find fault in what I just said.
But if you dream, might as well dream Big.
That ( to me) is better than predicting failure ( for any RU recruit) because you look for the doom and gloom, instead of allowing some light to shine through the darkness you feel surrounds RU FB.

@Elite11: Congrats to the 15th invite to The #Elite11 Finals, Archbishop Wood (PA) QB Anthony Russo (@Anthony_Russo15) #Rutgers http://t.co/EpVXI6WUKn
