Didn't say this before on the game thread

I’d love to get a live clock on that...I mean there are times you get seven seconds, let alone the 3 1/2 maybe 4 that they blew the whistle on there!!

I replayed and clocked it twice and it was pretty much 5 seconds from the time the ball was put in Harpers hands.

I feel like refs normally give the player an extra second from that time though.

Seemed abnormally fast.

Some of you are old enough from the A-10 days when we used to “help” or “teach” the officials on how to count to five.

5-6K people counting to five is really loud. Just sayin, ;)

Really surprised they didn't call foul and Laws last drive.
That's because it wasn't a foul. I know, I know that never stopped officials of changing the game. But here kudos to the officials from holding their whistles and let the game be decided by the players. Good no call.

It seemed a little quick but not sure that was the best set. It takes a couple of seconds to run down from midcourt and when original cut wasn’t open, very hard for our freshman to know how to improvise

Just stop watched the inbound play and it was 5 seconds. In fact 5.2 seconds.

Not saying you're not telling the truth but I'd love to see some other inbounds plays from other games to compare. I watch a lot of basketball. a LOT. That was a very quick 5
Usually the 5 starts once the player claps the ball

They started the 5 second count once the ref handed it to him. That is what I timed as well. I wouldn't argue that usually they count slow and it is 6 sec but it was 5 seconds from when he handed him the ball.

???????????????

lolz...........

I have NEVER seen a 5 second penalty called in under 6 seconds.................... NEVER.................. until today...........

I also checked it and it was slightly over 5 seconds. And 17 fouls on them to 16 on us. Refs were pretty good tonight IMO.

Why does everyone point to foul differential as some measure of whether the refs were good or bad? The refs were definitely letting both teams play today and holding their whistles but it doesn’t mean they were any good. I agree with Bardo who calls it like he sees it. Pike needs to get T’d up once in a while and get in their ears.

not going to complain, Ron and the team have to do better there, sometimes maybe the simple inbound is better.

I thought the refs were fine tonight. I am beginning to think that our fans are fond of the Big East and used to officiating there where a foul is called every minute and all the games are ugly. Big 10 refs seem to let alot go and I am fine with that.

I think there was a non call late on Rutgers...they mugged Vic Law at around the 3:30-4 minute mark. But Eugene was tackled too with no call. I think calls even out in the end.

It's a little tougher without a true PG. Baker got free coming back toward the ball to Harper's left but RH wasn't looking for him. If he gets it to Baker, he's facing the corner and is a 6'4" guy without classic nifty PG handles and NW with the possession arrow. Lots of opportunity for things to go wrong there. But beats the hell out of a 5 second call, so.

Geez, 5 seconds, no 5 seconds, who cares! The kid did not get the ball inbounds! That's where your outrage should be! Don't blame the Ref's. for the incompetence of the team.

It was very tight. But bottom line, with no TOs left a more experienced player probably knows that if it’s close to 5 and no one is open, he’s got to chuck the ball off the defender to reset the clock.

Didn't have an issue with the officiating tonight - another "let them play" game, but didn't feel like either team's game was necessarily set up to exploit that. Definitely some odd calls and non calls - but we got away with a *lot* this game, more than I feel we usually do. Not necessarily more than they did, but a lot.

Anyone who doesn't think that 5 sec call wasn't a scr*w job, well what can you say.

Hummel and the guys in the studio thought that Law may have been fouled on the drive when they were down just 1 with 12 seconds left but no call.

all the calls end up working out and evening out. Most of the time RU fans are paying attention to the ones NOT called on us

It seemed quick but we have to be able to have screens worked out on these plays. I'm upset about the clock reset before the half. The announcers clearly showed it was 2.1 seconds when the shot clock expired. How they set it at 1.5 is beyond me? Would it have made a difference? Probably not. But how do you get that wrong? And why is Gene taking that three pointer?

Agreed ...i was shocked that wasn’t called .

But F YOU REFS on the 5 seconds. That was the fastest 5 seconds in history.

Scumbags
Oh yeah I rewatched it twice. Before Harper even got the ball the refs arm moved indicating 1 second; What a joke I timed it twice it was 4 seconds max

It just always seems like refs are quick/excited to make big calls against us to stop our momentum

It seemed a little quick but we gave them an excuse there. That play wasn’t great - I was surprised we didn’t cal time. Maybe we were out.

No they don't many times & it may surprise you to know that most of the time RU fans are watching everything.
