The other day BTN's Gerry DiNardo gave his opinion on the email situation. To summarize.
Can't believe this is an issue. "Is this where we've come to?" where a coach and faculty can't communicate concerning a student athlete and his academic progress. They should be working together.
for the betterment of the student.
Of all the people involved, the person who should be most angry is the professor. Anyone who thinks he/she can be influenced is questioning his/her integrity.
How can any coach sit in a Living Room and tell a recruits mom they'll take care of a kid, making sure they get an education if you can't communicate with the academic side.
