There’s been a lot of rumors about the Rutgers NIL situation that after speaking with some sources I wanted to clear the air on…
1) KTR has NEVER made a NIL promise to an incoming recruit
2) No NIL deal with KTR and a Rutgers athlete has been broken unless they left the program
These lies have been permeating the past few weeks and it’s just another form of negative recruiting in the NIL age. Schools try to drum up a narrative about other programs hoping the story gets picked up and it’s used against other programs.
With that being said, NIL in general is clearly not where it needs to be nor where the Rutgers coaches/admins want it to be. Jon Newman himself said we’re only about 15% of the way there to where we want to be ($10M) to sustain our athletics programs.
Just wanted to dispel some of the negative recruiting that’s currently out there at the moment because it’s intended to hurt Rutgers in the recruiting front
