Just because we have not been able to get it right does not mean Commissioner Delaney fed us to slaughter. We have been handed a golden ticket and just have not gotten it right yet. Do not expect the competition to hand us recruits(although we now have an Ohio State coordinator as our head coach). This is a big boy league and we are going to have to take our lumps until we figure it out.

Wait! Is someone blaming the B1G commish for what happened with a single recruiting class? I refuse to believe anyone could be that down right stupid. Well actually I could but that's not the point.

What we're seeing is the result of years of ineptitude from the staff and administration, Of horrendous publicity and less than stellar results on the field. Yes, other schools have had their "troubles" but unlike many of them, RU had never done enough to earn a get out of jail free card.

It's only year 2. Things may not be happening as fast as some of our fans want, but we will be fine.

The point of this post was to silence critics of Commissioner Delany. When Tim Pernetti was able to coordinate our entrance to the Big Ten it was a gift for our school. It is not Mr. Delany's fault that our Basketball coach was screaming/throwing balls at our players. True other programs apparently are using female escorts to recruit players and that is met with little fanfare by ESPN and other media outlets--but abusing players verbally is wrong. It is not Delany's fault that apparently our football coach lost control of our program over time(I was a firm supporter of Coach Flood although I never understood why he would never allow a true QB competition). With all of that said, I still believe the RAC will rock someday and that our football team will play games similar to the Louisville game of 2006. Our fanbase is waiting for things to happen. If you build it they will come.....

Several posts were insinuating that Delany had conspiracy theory to get us into Big Ten so they could raid our talent pool and use our tv sets. I am aware of the frustration, but the fault is our own, not outside the program.

That isn't a conspiracy theory; it's the truth of why we were invited to the BIG 10 (the TV part, anyway).

That's not a criticism of Delany.

I think we both agree on the important points. Rutgers was invited because geographically we are advantageous to the league. Frustration leads to finger pointing. In this case we just need to point it at ourselves and start moving forward.

This was our curb appeal going in, we all knew this. Now it's either swim with the sharks or you sleep with the fishes.

Bingo. Delany did a huge favor to Rutgers. The man is a genius and he has nothing against Rutgers.

But he is a conference commissioner, not a Rutgers commissioner.

His goal is to have our best compete be able to compete with the best (SEC). And our best are obviously Ohio State and Michigan.

The souths best go to Alabama and LSU. In order for the Big Ten to keep up, the North's best must go to OSU/UM.

Two major errors OP.
Nobody is blaming the commish....in fact, we praise him for having the forsight to take us
Pernetti is not why we are in the B1G

One correction from last reply: I believe we were dead in the water with the old Big East when Commissioner Delany came courting. Tim Pernetti was able to get it done. Not completely sure past athletic directors other than Mr. Mulcahy could have seen the process through.

Dude learn sarcasm when you see it, I know there are a lot of shallow minds out there so I do use a sarcasm Icon>>> :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
My original post was;
Thank you Mr. Delany
and I stated :
"Our invite to B1G was more than just TV eyeballs. Beside our sterling academics, what was more of a draw was our rich talent base which the B1G just farmed to the tune on 80% of the top 10 players went big ten and almost 50% of the top 35 Jersey players will be playing in the B1G.
I know all school pick up Jersey kids but since joining the B1G programs seem to be coming here much more.
I knew this was going to happen as it will play down the road coaches will think, "if we don't take them, Rutgers might and we will have to play against them" mind set. I think Hargaugh may have over played that hand.
So thank you Big Jim :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: all in jest (It is better to be in the big ten and get beat up then not!)
By the way Ash did pretty good in getting some of our own top 35 players"

BTW see sarcasm ICON :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:and right next is ALL IN JEST
