i say no. I think every team will pass on us all day long. We have no secondary. Our coach sucks

No adjustments, no pass rush, massive penalties, turnovers. QB can't throw more than 20 yards.

So no.

Wait ...when we finish 7-5 then come back and make your claim....Big game next week...I say we beat PSU...Kansas...Army...Maryland...Indiana... Michigan ...

If we had any serious aspirations for a bowl we needed today's game. We failed. I also don't know why anyone thinks we're somehow winning next week at PSU; our defense is the perfect tonic for their O and if it wasn't for Grant, this game was a blowout. Laviano should not be starting and the offense is going nowhere fast with him.

Can't see it. We just lost to arguably the worst D1A team on our schedule. This was one of the few "locks" on the schedule. 4 wins at best.

I'll give them 3-games......Kansas, army & NS.....no way does this team as we saw them today beat any big10 team. Horrible coaching; this was amauture nite in piscataway & a real shame to see these kids soooo unprepared for an easy win. Coaching, coaching, coaching......furthermore wash st. Dared rutgers to pass all day....they took no shots down field. You have an AA wr almost completely abscent from the game. Terrible coaching....period!

By the way dbs played about as well as they couldve given the situation.

Yeah...you guys looked GREAT against UBuffalo today LOL

You had guys running in and out not knowing the plays and your coach looked absolutely lost.

You DID look better than you did against Temple though...at least Huckleberry wasnt sacked 10 times.

Amauture....abscent....couldve...please tell me you didnt attend PSU. Or is English your 2nd language?

Bowl game? After today's miserable display, they will be lucky to beat Kansas and Army. Next week could be ugly.

Today was a bad bad loss. WSU will be lucky to win 1 game in their conference play. I had hopes of making a bowl with how our competition played in week 1. After this loss I can only see two maybe three more wins. I know our DB's are green but you have to do something to disrupt the timing of the QB. Afraid our vaulted DL is not as good as advertised. We made Falk look spectacular, any QB is going to look great when he has 5 to 6 seconds to throw the ball. Afraid Rossi will trot out the same defensive plan week after week and it's going to suck.

I's be SHOCKED now...we had no room for error for hopefully 7 wins...Wazzou to me was 1 of 5 must wins...now we must beat a Nebby/Wisky level team to achieve that modest goal....I'm hurting over this home loss that we should've won....Ruined the season for me already and even if we beat PSU it won't feel as good as it would've felt on a winning streak...maybe next yr we'll capture the magic season we crave. This one was about respect.

Doctor....from rutgers; I can speel when i want to : )
i love the english police on these message board.

as an alumni of both schools i can say this, its going to be a long year. I just dont see rutgers handling what will be the biggest game crowd this year in happy valley. If the Rutgers coaches are this poorly prepared next week it will be a flood bath! 48-21....& yes this is by a bottom big10 team.

Man, for as ugly as this was, it's one game, against a team that was built to exploit our weakness. And we had the lead late in the game.

It's a tough loss, but I don't think it ruins our bowl hopes. Makes the task harder no doubt, but by no means ruined. In case you didn't notice but Md got thrashed by BG yesterday, and that was in Terrapin station.

After 2, we seem about the same as in 14. PSU looks about the same. Michigan looks better. Road games worse for close games so 6 will be tougher.

I think 6 wins is a realistic ceiling. I think PSU is must have because I don't feel as confident in getting a win at the Big House with a Michigan team that should be improving by the time we see them. PSU still looks shaky to me so a win on the road there next week seems possible. Without that then I think 5 wins is the ceiling.

You never know though upsets always happen. I mean our basketball team beat Wisconsin (yes I know they had injuries but still).

Possible, but I'm leaning toward no....I say 25% chance we get to a bowl.

You will definitely beat Penn State. No doubt in my body that will happen. To put it simply, they are...bad...very bad. Franklin and staff have no idea how to run an offense that maximizes the potential on the roster. Square peg, round hole so to speak. Rutgers finishes the season with a better record.

Won't beat any B1G team?

Maryland says hello...

I'll stick to my prediction of 2 -10. We are not a good team. Defense is terrible. Coaching overall is bad. Head coach is in over his head.

We'll have a much better idea by this time next week. If we lose to PSU, then I don't see us getting to a bowl. And while I can see us beating PSU, if we play the same defensive scheme we played today, Hack will suddenly become that All-American first round QB that everyone thought he would be. The only way we can beat PSU is to sack the Hack, and yes, while this leaves our DBs exposed, I don't see any alternative. PSU's D is very good and so we need to keep their O out of the end zone.

I see 5 more winnable games vs TTFP, Kansas, Indiana, Army and Maryland. If they win next week vs a bad team on the road Rutgers could pull out 6 wins this year. Many people see a swing game with Michigan but no way they win at the Big House with this defense and there will be more blow out losses vs the B1G heavies.

Very tough loss and at home. Right now not only are the remaining home B1G games tough but the away games are perhaps even worse. Playing at PSU, Michigan snd Wisconsin will be stressful in crowd atmosphere alone.

A couple of things that standout from.an overall game and preparation viewpoint
1. No Hamilton on the field...both as leader and player.
2. With the # of coaches on the staff how can we get called for delay of game or substitution problems. This is basic stuff. Also the players themselves should be following the game closer and know when they are needed. Maybe we are better on the road with less players on the sidelines in uniform.
3. The point about one qb having a bettet knowledge of the playbook seems to be overplayed. Who is calling just about every play..the OC! Yes it may affect some checkoffs but I'll trade that off for a qb who pethsps sees the overall passing lanes better and can go deep when needed.
5. Again an effective pass rush just wasn't there. The one or two times we blitzed a player produced results.
6. The fumble by Laviano was costly as was the interception. Yes Rettig may have had an error or two if he played but we never got the opportunity to see this when there were times in the game that he could have been on the field. Is he that far apart from Laviano? I don't think so.
7. Unfortunately the opening game drive by WSU set the tone for the entire gsme. Not unexpected but they just came down the field like it was throw and catch in practice. And then finished the same way.
8. Lastly...officating. not to say they were bad but when you play an OOC team at home you often get a different interpretation of what they will or will not allow or see. I font ever recall Rutgers getting penalized gor chop blocking. The only explanation may be the player(s) involved were having problems with their assignment.

The keys for a possible win at PSU.
1. Get Hamilton on the field and more of Turay.
2. Get organized regarding substitution which falls on players as well as coaches. I know they try but wow things like this cannot happen.
3. Don't be afraid to play two qb's and use the strength of each. Nothing wrong with alternating them when needed. The key is execution as opposed the cliché reference to knowledge of the playbook. Against PSU the need to get the ball downfield to our receivers will determine how successful we will be. Just like we knew what WSU was going to throw a full.passing attack against us foes it really matter if PSU may know that if Rettig is in the game different passing options may be coming.
4. And execute....which means looking st receiver options and be smart with resort to unnecessary penalties. At least the officials will be B1G officials and hopefully provide some level of consistency.

Thank you for being a voice of reason. It was the SECOND GAME OF THE SEASON against a team we knew we going to have problems with. In typical fashion, the negatards are out in full force with proclamations to fire Flood and Rossi. I listened to everybody's favorite coach Harbaugh yesterday after yesterdays game. He said something to the effect that it is only the second game of the season and Michigan has a lot of work to do. Get it?

Some of you eeyore's sound like we should just forfeit the rest of the games and declare the season as over now.

There are no definites. I think this will be a game like last year and will be decided on which team plays less worse. We stop your run game and put Hack under pressure, then I like our chances. I think this game will be a good test of our run game against a solid run defense. May the less worse team win.

I think we had to beat WSU to make a bowl. If we hadn't lost all those players due to criminal activity and started Rettig, I think we would have breezed against WSU and 7-8 wins were possible. With the lost secondary and Laviano at the helm, I see 4-5 wins, which is sad, because I think we have the talent to do better with better QB-ing and a better secondary (both are still somewhat possible, if we switch to Rettig before it's too late or if the secondary guys learn quickly).
