he just realized he's going to Cleveland
Your right, Watson can stand in the pocket and make all the throws, he's mobile and throws well on the run, he performs well in big pressure moments, and makes all the pre-snap reads like an NFL veteran...he'll never be successful. If Cleveland takes Watson over Trubiski - Browns fans should cry. Watson will not be a good NFL quarterback

I guess we will see but your Vince Young comparison is laughable. You could have made a Cam Newton throwing on the run comparison but it fits your narrative to choose the unsuccessful QB.He cannot make all the throws. Terrible deep ball with a slow wind up release. And no he does not make pre snap reads like a nfl veteran. Come on now lol. He can stand in the pocket and throw short - intermediate routes. He can make the those same throws on the run and he's good under pressure. But so was Vince Young at Texas. I bet you thought he was gonna be a good NFL QB too

Agreed. Watson will be an excellent NFL QB. He's also very good at feeling pressure and moving around in the pocket, without losing sight of the field, and then scrambling to create more time to throw, not just to run.Your right, Watson can stand in the pocket and make all the throws, he's mobile and throws well on the run, he performs well in big pressure moments, and makes all the pre-snap reads like an NFL veteran...he'll never be successful.
Or the Jetshe just realized he's going to Cleveland
I thought Goff would immediately be good.
I'm not good at evaluating NFL potential
Terrible deep balls? Like the the deep passes he threw that only Mike Williams could make a play on under heavy pressure? Or the long over the shoulder passes he made routine his entire Clemson career? OH I see what your talking about know. Vince Young STATS: 61.8 completion% 44TD-28INT 6,040 yards-pass rating 144.9 Deshaun Watson STATS: 67.4 completion% 90TD-32INT10,168 yards-pass rating 157.5He cannot make all the throws. Also are they not using the analytics model borrowed from baseball, so who knows how they will evaluate him.The browns need alot of help. They should trade down for additional picks.
Or the Jets
he's either going to Cleveland, SF or the Jets. All reasons to cry.
well SF and NY/NJ/CT will rape you in taxes, so at least in OH he could have that extra spending money for toys or investing if he's smart. Contract ends, jump ship. Franchise me? That's like $22+ million at that point, bub.At least with NY or SF you are in a nice city, Cleveland is just not a good place to be for any reason.
Many fans or evaluators for that matter still haven't come to grips with the fact that with the level of athleticism of most defenses especially pass rushers, the days of having a stationary QB ala Tom Brady are rapidly coming to an end. QB's that can escape and extend plays, turning what would be negative plays until positive plays by either keeping their eyes downfield for open receivers or running for key first downs will become the norm (A. Rodgers, Big Ben, Russell Wilson, etc.). "Making all the throws", while still important is no longer necessary if one can compensate with the aforementioned skill set. Watson might not be what has historically been viewed as the prototypical NFL QB but despite the doubters will be a solid NFL starter eventually. Not surprised some RU fans don't share this view as many still hold on to the belief that Ash should bring back the traditional pro-style offense despite the fact that pro-style isn't what it use to be.
It really doesn't matter. Cleveland has screwed up every QB they've drafted since Bernie Kosar. If Cleveland takes Watson over Trubiski - Browns fans should cry. Watson will not be a good NFL quarterback
Ask Jet fans who watched utterly incompetent QB play all season if being able to make all the throws is still important in the NFL.Many fans or evaluators for that matter still haven't come to grips with the fact that with the level of athleticism of most defenses especially pass rushers, the days of having a stationary QB ala Tom Brady are rapidly coming to an end. The Jets don't pick until #6. Browns , SF, Bears going 1-2-3 all need a franchise QB. Watson won't fall to the Jets. Not to say they won't trade up, but they're not getting him staying put. They sure like drafting QB's, though. In the last four years, they drafted Hackenberg, Bryce Petty, Tajh Boyd, and Geno Smith. The five years before that- Greg McElroy in '11, Mark Sanchez in '09, Erik Ainge in '08.Or the Jets
Trubisky should have stayed at NC for his senior year. He has one year playing as a starter in college. Most of the playing time he got prior to the '16 season was during garbage time. He could turn out great, but he lacks experiencePlease no. Watson is not worthy of being a 1st round pick in the NFL. Comparisons to Prescott are also misplaced because he plays behind the best OL in the league. Put him on Cleveland and they don't win anymore games than they won this year. Trubisky is the real deal
No ones talking about running quarterbacks like RGIII and Capernick. This is about real QB's also being athletic enough to extend plays and throw down field or make timely scrambles to move the chains. Obviously they need a good level of arm talent but check Rodger's rating(who has great arm talent) inside the pocket and outside the pocket...it is significantly better outside the pocket and many of his big plays come from the outside like they did against the Giants this past week. The same could be said for Wilson and Big Ben. Brady is obviously one of if not the greatest pocket passer of all time who happens to play for the Patriots, so he is an outlier. You named Brady, Matt Ryan, etc...who are the etc??? The truth is other than Brady, Ryan, Brees, and sometimes Flacco who also does a lot of damage by extending plays, they are very few current QB's that hurt opponents primarily from the pocket. Most of the other good young QB's... Newton, Luck, Carr (also excellent from the pocket), Mariotta, Winston, Prescott, Wentz, etc. more closely match the style of QB play I am talking about...escape the rush and make plays when the coverage breaks down. This supposed evolution of the QB is a myth. The NFL game is still won from the pocket. Rodgers has legendary arm talent. He could run around all he wants but if he can't make all the throws he would be RGIII or Kap. While you call Brady outdated he is perhaps one of the greatest movers inside the pocket and he is s-l-o-w. Moreover, every guy you cited -- Rodgers, Big Ben and Wilson -- can make all of the throws. Who is the QB that can't make the throws and still has become elite?
BTW, this supposed new breed of QB only has about 60-70 rushing attempts every year. It equates to roughly 2-3 rushing attempts per game more than Brady, Matt Ryan, etc., who usually have around 30 attempts. I'd hardly call that a difference maker.
The NFL is still about making all of the throws from the pocket. Period.
yup the Drew Bledose days are gone. You have to have escapability, you have to be able to throw on the run as well as the pocket. DE's are too fast off the edge. LB's can all run and cover. Nickels can cover just as well as corners. Have to be able to extend plays.N

Going back to my original point...we'll see if Watson can or cannot make all or enough of the throws once he gets in the league. I believe he can!
