Forget the match ups.

Time for MINI REVENGE TOUR.

Pike needs to sell this to his troups....Corey. Baker (hopefully he'll be over the flu), Freeman, Omouryi, Thiam, Sa, Doorson, Duke, Williams ....all of them.

Come out of the gate / SCORE, SCORE, SCORE.

And don't let up!

A healthy Baker is really important for this one.

Changes from last meeting:
- Williams back
- Sa back (left last game very early after being raked through the eye)
- Omoruyi back (left last game late in first half with knee injury)
- At home (need "home court Corey")
- 5 days since last game and traveled once in that time vs. 3 days since last game and traveling twice

Really hoping for a completely different team this time out. Would really help if we could keep them closer to their conference average 3P% of .302 (6.5 makes out of 21.5 attempts) instead of allowing .407 like last time out (11 of 27), too.

Good post,Mo. A win vs Illini and one in tourney leaves a much better taste in the mouth.

Sorry, still can’t shoot.

True.... but Illinois ranks 12th in FG% to our 14th.... and 13th in 3P% to our 14th. They really aren't known for shooting, either.

They rank 14th in FG% defense, though (worse even than Iowa)... so, if we're suddenly going to be able to start shooting on anyone, it'd be against them.

I want to beat-up on them. Let's be up by 15 with 2 mins left and keep our starters in to finish the game in a romp.

Some possible cause for optimism....

The bottom of the FG% defense in the conference:
.467 - Illinois
.462 - Iowa
.460 - Wisconsin
.438 - Northwestern

We've beaten Iowa, Wisconsin, and Northwestern at home.... shooting a collective .485 against them (.400 vs. Northwestern, .463 vs. Wisconsin, .527 vs. Iowa). Maybe this is an opening for a good shooting performance to cap the regular season? :fingers crossed:

Would love to see a big enough lead so that all of our seniors can be on the court when the final buzzer sounds.

Good Corey shows up, we will beat them.

except the last time we played them they rained the 3 ball.

Which was crazy, yeah. Especially crazy because we have one of the better 3P% defenses in the conference (.319). Of course we were forced to play Bullock/Mensah/Dadika for 32 combined minutes that game, which is the most all season... really hoping that number is zero on Sunday.

The only conference team they scored more threes against was Iowa (14 of 30), who has the worst 3P% defense in the B1G (.373).

They've hit 4.5 threes per conference road game in 19.4 attempts (.232)... in conference home games, they've averaged 8.5 in 23.6 attempts (.360)

Hopefully the combination of their road shooting and our better 3P defense (along with the return of players) will help keep them quieter from range.

It is senior day. We need this win for the seniors, also to avoid the cellar and for the team as well as all of our fans.

Actually, I retract the statement about Bullock/Mensah/Dadika's minutes being zero... I'd like Dadika to get some mop up time in a big win so that he can get his senior day ovation, too.
