With a win on Saturday, will voters still rank Rutgers?
Andy Katz thinks we deserve to stay ranked, what says Rutgers Rivals?

We lost by 5 on the road to a higher ranked team, so maybe you drop one spot to 25 after hopefully beating Nebraska.

If we were ranked 20th or better probably..... going 1-1 when you are ranked 24th probably drops us in the area of 27th, or, those also receiving votes

close, just have to see what the others team do or if a team from outside the top 25 has a great week. Beating Nebby at home in itself isnt that impressive but losing by 5 to Iowa who is moving up the rankings quickly is a good kind of loss

Texas Tech ranked 18 lost already this week and meet Kentucky in their next game...two losses which would drop them to 12-7 and they are out. Houston #25 hosts UConn so we can root for the Huskies. #23 Arizona travels to ASU

Probably drop out but hopefully get back the following week after winning three in a row

A convincing win vs. Nebraska and a little luck with results in the 20-30 range, and we should stick around. A nail biter vs. Nebraska, and I think we're out.

Yes, as far as the rankings, the result of this game is a wash. We need a convincing (at least double figure) win over Nebraska to stay there next Monday. Beat Purdue and Michigan, and we maybe crack top 20. They are having off years, but still have a name nationally.
A win tonight, could have carried us to a 6 game win streak and top 15 ranking going into Maryland. But that is territory for next year. Double bye BTT, top 4 regional seed, etc.
The goal this year, which is already a year ahead of schedule, is to Make the Tournament!! The rankings will take care of themselves..

I doubt it

since it was the only hot game last night with 2 ranked teams many voters probably watched which helps but..... PSU won on the road over Michigan. Others just below us may win 2 games this week.

There are still some voters who didn't watch the game and will only look at the score. It was a 1 pt game with a minute left but ended as a 5 pt win for Iowa. Some of the voters who left us out last week will say "I told you so".

We likely are in the 25-30 range this week.

Nope but I don't care. I cared a LOT about getting ranked coming into this week because:

1. The "not ranked since 1979" stuff matters, and

2. We were likely to lose this Iowa game which meant it was our best chance.

Remember that Michigan was #19, lost at Iowa in their only game of the week, and were bounced from the rankings. I don't think a win over Nebraska is enough to keep us in.

Looking at our AP neighborhood for this week:

#19 - Iowa (W vs. #24 RU by 5)
#20 - Memphis (L @ Tulsa by 40, vs. SMU on 1/25)
#21 - Illinois (W @ Purdue by 17, @ Michigan on 1/25)
#22 - Arizona (@Arizona St on 1/25)
#23 - Colorado (vs WSU on 1/23, vs. Washington on 1/25)
#24 - Rutgers (L @ #19 Iowa by 5, vs Nebraska on 1/25)
#25 - Houston (vs. UConn on 1/23, vs. USF on 1/26)
#26 - Wichita St (W @USF by 13, vs. UCF on 1/25)
#27 - LSU (W vs. Florida by 2, @Texas on 1/25)
#28 - Michigan (L vs. PSU by 9, vs. Illinois on 1/25)
#29 - Northern Iowa (L vs. S. Illinois by 2, vs. Loyola Chicago on 1/26)
#30 - Ohio St (vs. Minnesota 1/24, @Northwestern 1/26)

So, just by what has happened already.... I'd assume Memphis drops pretty far even with a win vs. SMU. I'd also assume Northern Iowa will drop after losing to S. Illinois.

Upcoming games for these teams by date:
1/23 -
Colorado vs. WSU
Houston vs. UConn

1/24 -
OSU vs. Minnesota

1/25 -
Memphis vs. SMU
Illinois @ Michigan
Arizona @ Arizona St
Colorado vs. Washington
Rutgers vs. Nebraska
Wichita St vs. UCF
LSU @ Texas

1/26 -
Houston vs. USF
Northern Iowa vs. Loyola Chicago

It really depends on what the teams directly above and below RU do. If RU convincingly beats NU and no one else has a big win, they could stay ranked.

It does not matter right now. For those wanting to remain ranked Saturday is a must win game. Lose and likely a while before pundits rank Rutgers again even if they beat Mich St, Mich, ans Ohio. Perception battles can be very difficult to overcome.

I think it's like 50/50 depending on what other teams do. I bet we are either #25 or #26 with a win Saturday. I don't think the margin of victory matters all that much although it would be good if it's greater than 3.

With a good win vs. Nebraska the guys who voted for us will not second guess their decision last week. We get all the same votes. That Iowa loss is as good a loss as you can get.

LSU is going to get in if they beat Texas, they are leading the the SEC and would be 16-3 I think at that point. I think RU has a good chance to stay in if the Nebby game isnt close

Agree... with a win at Texas, LSU will be 7-0 in the SEC (15-4 overall... with three of their losses coming by 2 points), leading the conference, and riding an 8-game win streak. That's almost a guaranteed ranking.

We will move UP in the rankings with a win over Nebraska. Many pollsters did not even consider us last week. Their eyes were opened by their colleagues and with an impressive road loss to a higher ranked team, followed by a victory, I expect more votes.

True, that the 5 point loss may have actually impressed the skeptic voters. This is a good Iowa team, with perhaps the best player in the league. Making the tournament, and keeping the ranking , will come down to not getting swept 2-0 by any team in league, taking care of business vs teams heavily favored against at home, results vs their National Nemesis Michigan!
Yes, the team that Rutgers has not beaten, ever. Knocked Rutgers out of the Final Four and NIT finals.
Rutgers has a chance to not only beat, but sweep this team. They MUST get at least one..

Its all about the votes..Hopefully we gain some votes after a close game in Iowa and a win at home Saturday. Also depends on how the teams 18-25 perform.

yes, but just winning is the key. Make the dance and make the dance. That's what wins recruits
