He is Boston College's DC at the moment. They had the #1 yardage defense and #4 scoring defense in the nation while also having the 3rd worst offense in the nation (ahead of only UCF and Kent State).

Not sure how much he is making, but if Ash becomes overwhelmed/isn't ready to be a HC and DC, we can bring in an elite guy and combine their knowledge. Imagine how great our D could be.

I love that ''be a dude'' guy Don Brown.....Rob Smith too..

He' never been a HC. If you want someone to help him out you don't bring in just a DC you bring in someone with HC experience like Rhodes. Who he by the way has worked with in the past.

He has been a HC. Nowhere big time, but UMass and Northeastern. Overall record of 95-45 for his career.

And for those that care about connections, Brown has spent his entire coaching career in New England and the northeast.

Is his defense similar to what Ash wants to run? They need to be compatible. My guess is that Ash picks someone he has worked with in the past.

You could also bring in some one like Ruffin McNeill as well.

Don Brown was DC under Friedgen at Maryland. Ran a 4-3 defense:

With a year of experience in Brown's defense, and a stronger secondary, the unit was expected to improve during the 2010 season.[7] Maryland rebounded with a 9–4 record and a bowl game victory, with a markedly improved defense.[8] The Washington Post described Brown's scheme as "organized chaos" and "blitzing nearly 85 percent of the time."[9] Highly touted junior safety Kenny Tate emerged as a playmaker, and Brown praised his play at "virtually every position on the field" as "unbelievable".[10] Brown was credited with preparing the team well for the 2010 Military Bowl, where Maryland beat the 12th-ranked offense of East Carolina, 51–20.[11] After the season, head coach Ralph Friedgen was fired, and Brown stated a desire to remain at Maryland on the next coaching staff.

Don Brown is a name I've mentioned before. Mike Elko at WF and Phil Snow at Temple as well but hard to know how realistic any of them are without a connection. Rhoads or McCarney seem more logical because of past connections. Rhoads worked at Pitt too so wouldn't be completely unfamiliar with the area.

He's worth an interview. Friedgen can help make the connection. He's on the payroll until February 2016. Wonder if he and Ash have or will talk.

Phil Snow just bought a house here, his kids live here, and he turned down 2 Pac 12 schools to stay. He's not leaving Temple.

UMass got to the FCS Title game with Brown at the helm. Team had 3 Rutgers transfers on it, Jon Carnes, Brad Listorti and EJ Barthel

Yes you've mentioned that before and I asked for some sort of article reference to his salary or the turning down of those offers but you never gave any. Regardless of what your site says until I see a salary and some reference that he actually turned down a larger salary to stay it's an open possibility.

None of it is public information. I told you to tweet John DiCarlo if you want confirmation. He's not leaving Temple, especially for Rutgers. His plan is to finish his career at Temple and retire to Arizona during the winter.

I don't use twitter and even if I did I wouldn't bother. It's info on your site just like info comes on here that isn't always the most accurate and I take it with grains of salt. If it's not public in some way shape or form or at least somewhat known more widely it's open ended. What you say might be true and it might not be but certainly not going to take it as gospel if there's nothing more concrete. He's not likely even targeted by Ash but it's a name I've brought up and will continue to as a point of discussion for DCs here or elsewhere unless something concrete says he wants to stay at Temple for the duration regardless of pay raise. I mean you haven't even said what his salary is or cited any reference to it.

Because we're state related, it's not required to be reported. I believe if it is requested, it has to be reported per the FOIA, but I believe how Temple, Penn State, and Pitt work, only the highest level of the university's administration is required to report their salaries. I have no idea what Snow makes. I do know he got a raise after this season.

You have nerve coming on our site and dissing Rutgers. You had a great year, congrats.

It's not meant to be a diss. We asked if it's possible he would leave, and were told he's not looking to leave even for a school like UCLA or Cal. He is very content finishing out his career here.

Ever wonder how he got two offers to turn down if he was not available for interviews? If he wasn't talking to other teams, he would not be getting offers.
So either he never got the offers or he is actively looking. You can't have it both ways.

lol what? Phil Snow is one of the most well regarded assistants in the country. When you have his track record, you don't need to interview like you're some 34 year old who has been coaching for 4 years. Two Pac 12 schools offered him their DC positions because of his track record. He didn't need to interview in order to get offered those jobs.
