As a lead-in to Shaq’s Senior Night celebration on Wednesday, I thought I’d list a few reasons why I appreciate the guy:

1. Ultimate team player
2. Hard work ethic
3. Excellent interior defender
4. Great guy, represents RU well
5. Loyal son who bleeds scarlet

You’ve given us everything you have Shaq — we look forward to a strong finish to your career here on the banks. Thank you sir!

Thanks for doing this. I was going to start one. Actually I was going to start a Shaq Carter appreciation thread but these next few days should be all about Shaq Doorson.

He gave his all. After all his injuries he could have easily said enough is enough and just cruised thru this season. But finally healthy he has given his all. He does the little things that are helping us win. Playing tough defense, bodying up on opposing bigs, boxing out letting others get there rebound etc.

After the foot injury and with his weight ballooning to over 300 pounds because he could not run and workout, I never thought we would see Shaq contribute like this. Foot injuries are often a career killer for a player Shaq's size.

Amazing story of hard work and dedication.

Nice job, Billy! And everyone do your best to get into your seats early to show your appreciation for Shaq!

Win the damn Big Ten tournament and give this guy the best reward for five years of hard work and dedication.

Yeah, there’s plenty of other reasons to want to win the tournament, but this is a good rallying cry.

As nice as Geo Baker is as a person, and trust me he is a REALLY REALLY nice young man (as are many others on the team), Shaq Doorson is arguably THE nicest most personable player on the team. I will miss him.

Last year when Candido Sa walked for Senior Day, Shaq Doorson walked out with him (and Sa's mother or other relative).

What a great ambassador he will be for Rutgers going forward. Deserves lots of props for as far as he's come. Love the way he protects the paint and muscles up anyone down low.

Hope his teammates can help send him off with some more incredible memories this month!

One of my favorite moments last night was the hard foul by the Iowa player on Doorson near the end of the game. The Iowa player ended up on his can on the floor. the announcer suggested it was like a bug had landed on Doorson's arms, and he brushed it away.

My gf and I really laughed hard on that. The announcer called attention to it, and the replay was hilarious. The defender fell to the floor and Shaq hardly budged, like it had no affect on him.

Just noticed that Doorson is 20th on the Rutgers career blocks list with 76, bumping Byron Joynes' 69 out of the Top 20 He's one behind Mike Jones for 19th, and 6 behind Hollis Copeland for 18th.

Johnson already has 23 in his first season - which is a good pace, and might put him in the Top 10 before he graduates.
