Interesting commitment for Houston. I'm not really sure if Rutgers was going after him hard but you would think we woukd have an advantage with his brother being a starting OG for us and all.

I'm baffled.

think we were going after him hard we didn't have too many other offers at Tight end

Having family ties really means nothing. Half the time it works in your favor and half the time it works against.

I just found it interesting that a NJ kid would go to Houston of all places. I'm sure Herman made a great impression on him. At the same time the Mehringer offense is going to be pretty similar.

Just hope Ash and staff get their recruiting on soon. I know it's early, I just don't want Rutgers to get shut out of the top ten NJ recruits again. It honestly should never happen ever again.

I have no idea if this was a factor here but I am aware that a lot of non-athlete NJ HS kids are opting for southern schools now. The northeast college scene is too expensive and going south is the trend. In a perfect world (for him) he would have been in the SEC but when that's not a realistic option Houston offers a nice alternative. BTW, I am always curious whether families consider things like coaching changes. There is no way Hermann is still there in 2 years let alone 4 years.

Some kids like to leave home and gain new experiences. Houston is traditional good school that is ranked. Maybe his bro gave him a bad impression of staying in NJ or maybe he wants to cut his own path.

His RU brother has had a lot more success than his oldest brother that went to Oklahoma. Besides, maybe Miller could sense that RU wasn't recruiting him that hard. Houston isn't a P5 program, but could be by the time he finishes at UH.

Houston certainly is not the attraction....its Tom HERMANN....he outrecruited UT and Okie for some local 4 stars last year....Lets hope HCCA is half the recruiter...

sometimes you just want to get far away from family and friends and do your own thing for a while.

Good for him, I am sure he will do well.

I know for a fact that Miller's dad reads this board religiously as we randomly met once and this board was the 1st thing we spoke about. Tread lightly posters.
LOL. Tread lightly? You can't be serious.
I've seen this too many times on this board. Do you really believe that? If so you need to get out in the real world a little more.
This board and posters on here have zero impact on recruits selection on what school they choose.
This is a anonymous, public, free board.
This is no different than the 1000 of blogs and message boards at all other schools and honestly more tame than many of those schools with more success.
Do parents and recruits read this board? Some do. Does it have an effect on where the kids go. No, please stop.
Congrats to Devin Miller.

Hermann will be a very hot commodity on the coaching search scene by end of this season as well, then things could change.

You really love going on rants. That isn't what he said. It's about being respectful towards a man who is not only a member here but has another son who is currently busting his ass for us.

Same respect given to past players. Hopefully he does ok or the board anger will start. I remember some brutal commentary on other pplayers over the years.

OK, I'm not slagging the guy off or anything, but we're still waiting for Ash--and his staff--to make any recruiting impact whatsoever. Far too early to be really concerned but I'm getting a little anxious. Last year by this time we had five solid three star recruits.

I just want to say congrats to Mr and Mrs Miller on having 3 sons who attended or will attend college on a full scholarship. Anyone who's had to write those checks for 4 years is very jealous right now.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Rant? That wasn't even close to going a rant. More like laughing at what people believe on here. Telling other posters to "tread lightly" is a hell of a lot closer to a rant than anything I posted.

You went completely off topic because of something you thought was said, when it never was. Standard rant behavior.

Congrats to Devin Miller.
Maybe the plea was not because of harming any potential recruitment of Miller, but more about not being a bunch of douche-bags about a kid that chose a different school when his dad, whose middle son is playing for RU and doing a great job, is reading the board.

I'm pretty sure he said tread lightly. I'm pretty sure it was because his dad is a frequent visitor to this board.

This is why you get banned. Because you can't just admit you were wrong, and you just want to keep on fighting. I'll help you out.

He said "tread lightly" because his father is a frequent visitor on this board, meaning "don't be a dick" to the father who is on this board.

You took "tread lightly" for some reason to mean that recruits base their decisions on what people write on message boards. That has literally nothing to do with what we're talking about here.

Once you realize that those two bolded phrases aren't the same thing, we can move on.

Plenty of time before NSD. Maybe he has a change of heart and comes to Rutgers. Maybe he doesn't. Either way congrats to Devin

I think RU has fallen into this category for about 5 to 6 years running maybe longer.:(

Why would anyone be a dick to his dad? Until his post I don't think anyone knew his dad was a frequent visitor to this board.
Is there a history of posters being dicks to parents of recruits (maybe Toal) ?? I don't remember anyone taking the parents to task for their son choosing to go elsewhere. Are you guilty of such and this hit home?
However, there is a history on this board of posters (Floodies) who have scolded others on here for being negative (factual). Saying that recruits and their parents read this board and we are hurting recruiting.
