Dunleavy article: What was different at Rutgers Spring game? Everything

I don't know if the press has gotten worse or what over the years . If you watched the game and ash's post game on r vision you basically get nothing out of this article . It's just rehashing

I've noticed a lot of the same myself. I realized the difference is not the reporters; they haven't changed at all. it's the world that has moved on beyond where the old model of go to the press conference and write up a report added real value. In this age where all of the press conferences are available on line for pretty much anyone to watch themselves, the traditional article recapping highlights from the presser really only adds value to folks that are either too lazy or not tech savvy enough to watch the thing themselves.
Really the most real value these guys offer today is their very presence in the press conference asking the good questions. Not sure how the papers can monetize that value though, and I think that's one of the main things print media struggles with from a revenue perspective.

The fan who will watch btn or the post practice presser is not the target audience. It's your dad, uncle or cousin who is a casual observer but not going to hit r vision or message boards to get the level of detail we seek.

That may be true.. But it's a dwindling group

The readership for papers like the Asbury Park Press that are not free on the web are a dwindling group.

People may hate the Star-Ledger around here, but they've got it right. In 2016, newspapers not named the NY Times, Washington Post, or Wall-Street Journal should be free...
