Dylan Harper on picking Rutgers over Duke, lessons from Kobe and MJ, and his love for Ace Bailey
An interview with Dylan Harper reflecting on his decision to go to Rutgers, what his dad told him about Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, and much more.

The irony of it is Pike thought he was helping Dylan by recruiting volume scorers instead of defense first kids. He was clearly worried that if he ended up with kids like 2023-24 who couldn’t put the ball through the net it might reflect poorly on Ace and Dylan because they could be triple teamed over and over. Well Tyson Acuff and Jordan Dercack may be able to finish transition lay ups but what good does that do when you don’t get those opportunities because your D is so bad? Can’t score in transition when you don’t get any stops. Nothing to execute.
I’m glad he doesn’t have regrets about coming here but also who cares? Doesn’t change a thing about how the past season went downSo where are all those guys that usually comment,? I'm guessing a positive article doesn't move them. Now imagine if Harpet said something negative about RU or Pike?

exactly. got paid a mil, what's he going to sayI’m glad he doesn’t have regrets about coming here but also who cares? Doesn’t change a thing about how the past season went down
I wouldn't exactly call JWill, Davis and Derkack "volume scorers".
HC Pike did try to surround them with defense first kids.
Huh? J Will and Davis were already at Rutgers. They were not part of the portal class brought in to complement Dylan and Ace.
Tyson and Jordan were the text book definition of high volume scorers. Tyson Acuff was literally second in all of D1 in FG attempts and 7th overall in ppg in 2023-24. Jordan averaged 17 ppg and only 6 players in the NEC attempted more shots per game than him. Compare his 11.5 shot attempts per game to our roster last season. Simpson was high volume at 8.5 attempts per game.
You're sure about some annoyance? Twist and manipulate what he's said. Typical. What next. he probably hates his mom?? Please don't tell us what someone is thinking. It’s more of a who the heck cares at this point? It’s like leaving a job - you don’t get props for going out in a blaze of glory and telling your true feelings. Nice in the moment, but with big fat bucks on the horizon there’s no incentive. As much as he may love the coaching staff, I’m sure there is some annoyance that Pike didn’t surround him with a better team.
Did HC Pike not choose to keep JWill and Davis as significant contributors?
And surround Dylan/Ace with them?
Dylan and Ace were complemented by JWill, Davis and Derkack a lot more than the rest of the transfers.
Perhaps he targeted players like Acuff and Martini and Hayes because he thought JWill, Davis and Derkack would provide the defense needed.
Wasn't Derkack NEC Defensive Player of the Year?
I'm sure that played into the calculation of adding him.
It’s more of a who the heck cares at this point?
It’s a media interview. PR. Come on, you can’t be that naive. You're sure about some annoyance? Twist and manipulate what he's said. Typical. What next. he probably hates his mom?? Please don't tell us what someone is thinking.
Classic Lou. Rather than believe DIRECT QUOTES from the player, everyone should believe Lou who says “I’m sure there is some annoyance that Pike didn’t surround him with a better team.” You know what I’m sure of? Dylan is a pretty thoughtful kid who doesn’t need Lou speaking for him. It’s a media interview. PR. Come on, you can’t be that naive.

No, I have common sense. If Dylan came out saying he had regrets you would be the first one running to this board creating a thread.
Stfu, you’re full of $hit.
