Eddie Lewis in transfer portal

He also opted to redshirt and play only four games, but seemed to have done it under the radar without much notice.

Best of luck to him. Guys I rank above him:

-Melton
-Washington
-Woods
-King

Eddie Lewis was the kid we took to replace Ihmir Smith-Marsette. He had a higher rating from Rivals, but never really put it together here, whether that was him or the scheme or other factors, who knows. He ended up marginalized and hopefully he finds a new good home.

24 receptions as a freshman in the slot..i know it sarcasm...but 24 catches in that offense is nothing to sneeze at.

In that offense, that totalled roughly 30 yards
Um, not exactly:

2018, 12 games, 24/173, 0 TD's
2019, 4 games, 6/36, 1 TD
Hard to get it out but Blackshear in the slot is the player you want there.
Looks like he got his first action in the game that Blackshear decided to redshirt an hour before game time.

At this point, I’m convinced that anyone other than Blackshear that is transferring away is doing so after discussions with and help from Schiano.

I’m also convinced that GS has more grad transfer players lined up.

Considering we haven’t hired any actual offensive coaches, including someone to you know actually run the offense, I hope famed offensive guru Schiano isn’t making decisions on players and running them off.

I am going by memory, I thought he was one receiver who caught the ball consistently when he played. I'm surprised he entered the portal. To me it means that RU has some good receivers and Lewis figured he wasn't going to get much playing time.

I'm with you

Blackshear took his spot in the slot. He’s a pretty good WR and a very good athlete. However we are bringing in new guys and it probably makes sense for him to move on being that WR is a crowded room. I would have expected a few others to do so way before him.

Our offense has been horrible. I’m good with our HC making personnel decisions. That’s why he’s here.

I remember reading good things about him in the spring reports.

You would think he would have broken through on an offense starved of playmakers.

Best of luck.

He like a few others probably had redshirt ideas before the season started. When We switched to a running QB there wasn’t a lot of room for many WRs to break out. We had 2 guys who looked good at WR after Blackshear and Art redshirted and neither were in the slot. I expect Melton and Washington to be front runners to start next year but there are others who will push them.

The people who made our offense horrible are gone (Ash/McN).

The person in charge of fixing the offense isnt hired yet.

Schiano is here to fix the team and the defense.
Not the offense.

As HC it is his job to fix it all. Based on your logic here Ash was not responsible for the horrible offense because as a defensive guy it was his job to fix the team and the defense but not the offense. As HC it is his job to fix it all.

Stanley King, perhaps. Shameen Jones needs to step up.

That is why I listed both Ash and McN as responsible.
Ash was responsible for hiring Kill then McN and setting the agenda for a terrible offense.
Kill and McN took it even further and had worst in the nation offense.

As HC, Schiano’s first job should have been hiring an actual OC or any offensive coach and not worrying about the WR depth chart.

This is all assuming people are correct and Schiano is trimming the roster.
It’s possible Lewis chose to leave on his own.

New leadership means old HC's players might not fit and best they leave , even if they're talented.
RU's WR position has under-preformed, so
I will wish Eddie luck in finding a new program and classroom success there, but his on the field performance is something his new program's fans can hope for the best from him.
I'll just hope he remains injury free whether as a bench-warmer or in rotation.

I wonder why you assume that Schiano can do only one thing at a time (hire an OC or worry about the WR roster). Maybe Schiano is doing a lot of things at the same time because there is a lot to do to improve our program as quickly as possible.

Maybe he is making calls and meeting with trusted coaches in his network, interviewing and hiring his staff, having staff meetings, looking at film, meeting the team, having one-on-one meetings with all of the current student athletes, recruiting 2020 players, recruiting 2021 and 2022 players, assessing the portal and recruiting portal and grad transfers....all at the same time.

Nah, he is only worried about WR depth this week.

I'm sure he is doing all that and more.

My preference for Schiano's involvement regarding the offense would be hire an OC and leave it at that (and I guess consult on the rest of the offensive staff hires).

Let the offensive experts worry about the WR and rest of the offensive depth charts.

I understand that you have a preference, but the situation has lots of moving parts and is a more complicated than what you would prefer.
