Yeah. And some programs, including ones in the B1G who play baseball, are being relegated to farm team status...It’s every sport, now.
High turnover is the new norm
Agreed. Seems like he is hedging that if he is not drafted high enough, he may return to collegiate ranks but perhaps at more of a baseball factory such as in the SEC, ACC or PAC12.I didn’t expect to see this. Draft is one thing, transfer another.
Richie S. did the same thing last year. Transferred to Florida where he was mostly a backup but his team is in the World Series final. As a senior, you should go where you’re going to play every day. Plenty of scouts come to Rutgers games and the Cape, so he’s been pretty well scouted and evaluated.Good luck to him, but I don't have to like the transfer portal. That's just the way it is now. He was a three year starter for RU after he left Virginia, played well, got into the Cape League. He'd be a starter next year obviously. RU gave him a great opportunity yet he decides to leave for his third school for his final season. Again, good luck to him but I don't like this new norm in college sports.
I hope he's getting a good education if baseball doesn't work out.
Saw that RE Richie S. Not sure if he had pro aspirations, but if so, not great being on the bench and batting .192 for the year in limited play.Richie S. did the same thing last year. Just the reality of us being a farm team for the SEC, ACC and PAC 12 in baseball while the MEAC, Patriot League, and A-10 are our farm teams. Not great, but that is the current state of College Sports.Good luck to him, but I don't have to like the transfer portal. That's just the way it is now.
