Everett Golson leaving The Irish

Wait,Zaire Kitchen became a QB and transferred to Notre Dame ? I must not be spending enough time on the site anymore.

Hmmm.. Golson is from SEC land, South Carolina. Academically you'd think UNC would be a nice match. Any SEC school too. FSU would seem to be a good fit for both.

Malik Zaire now the starter for the next 3 years and Winbush sits for 3 more years or transfers. Some thinks Winbush is going to jump over Zaire as the starter but I don't see that after Kitchen starts for 2 years after this year. It's a numbers game. So many top 1-2 QB went to ND the last few years and then transferred.

Per Bloomberg: "Golson's destination is unclear. It would be tough for an SEC school like South Carolina to land him — Golson hails from Myrtle Beach — because conference rules prohibit any program from accepting graduate-student transfers who have faced disciplinary action at their previous school (though the school accepting Golson could file an appeal)."

SEC? Come again?

As much as it would be great to see him in Scarlet, I wouldn't want to see RU immediately accepting someone to grad school who committed academic fraud at his previous stop. After a period of sincere rehabilitation, I think anyone deserves a second chance. (Shon Hopwood comes to mind. He robbed a bank but was just admitted to the bar after sincere rehabilitation.) But there's no way that RU or any other grad school should accept him right away just because he can sling a football better than most people.

Zaire Kitchen went to the same high school as me. One of my favorite players. After the multiple torn ACLs, this kid exhibited a huge amount of courage by continuing to work hard, rehabilitate and come back. He exemplified what our program is about.

HHS grad - I also went there 85 to 87, senior year I moved to CA. It was great to see Zaire in scarlet. However Golson - no thank you.

Huh? ?? less than a month ago Brian Kelly was proudly crowing about what a great situation he had -
"I would take our two quarterbacks, and I would take our two over Ohio State," Kelly said.
"But in terms of depth, I don't know that anybody has a better situation than we do with the two quarterbacks that we have."
How fast can he re-spin that story ? ... or will he now say "uh-oh ... were are in a real pickle"

Yes, HHS Rams. I'm a 1981 graduate. You may have known my brother who graduated HHS in 1988.

Well yeah. Duh. Who wouldn't. I mean, Obviously they were both instrumental in Notre Dame winning the national championship last season.

He committed academic fraud? Seems like North Carolina would be a perfect fit, no?

Zaire Kitchen is actually now a Georgia State Trooper.
Some advice for those with Yankee plates who get pulled over in the Peach State for speeding at a very high rate...

When the Trooper comes over to your car and says, "Son, nobody goes that fast thru Georgia."

The WRONG answer is, "Sherman did. Ha Ha."

My point was that almost anybody can be rehabilitated after a period of time even for the most egregious crimes. But RU should not be rehab for EG at this time.
