If it’s him, he’s def solid.. thought people wanted more depth.. anyways, 3x ok state champ 176-9 hs record.. NQ and just upset #1 Panteleo (not sure how much FS translates to folk tho). Seems 149/157 could challenge White for spot or maybe even go 157 if Clark is RS.
But looking at his roster spot on Oklahoma, he's a senior and is sub .500 for his career in a far weaker wrestling conference than the B1G. If he was like a RS sophomore or something I might be more open to the idea, but not a rental who has never at least gone .500 in a season.
I don’t disagree w ya.. but adding a NQ can’t hurt and he would be around needed weight.. I think going 165 is possible too.
23-31 does not scream starter material nor better than what we already have at 149/157. No way is he a 165. As you know B1G is a huge jump from Big 12, I don't think he beats any of our guys for a starting spot.
Is he an upgrade? I think he is. 3 year starter at Ok with a 37-39 career record. I think he goes 149. After seeing White last weekend dont think he sees 149 ever again. He looks like a good sized 157. If not Butler at 149, who else? Butler will help....is it a big improvement, probably not, but it makes the lineup better.
I don't think any of our current 149/157 lb wrestlers are beating Alex P from Michigan anytime soon.

Big deal. MVB beat Kevin Jack in freestyle and was a complete Jeckyll and Hyde in folkstyle here for years.
Agreed, if White is bumping up as speculated then Butler to 149 makes sense.. yes he has a losing record.. but he’s been a NQ and won a match there so I disagree, that he can’t be starter material. Also has big upset potential beating prev 4th rank Parker.. and yeah.. upset Pantaleo in fs so he has it in him.. just gotta work on consistency..
If White is indeed bumping up then it's best to have something rather than nothing, as we have nothing waiting in the wings. But 3yr. starter at Oklahoma doesn't mean what it used to mean as their recruiting has not been good for a while now. Maybe a change of scenery makes him better.

Getting Butler has no bearing on Cannon/Griffith. Is he a "huge" get...no, but I am a little surprised at some of the reactions to this signing. Does he make our lineup better? The answer is yes. He is much better than anyone on our Roster for 149. Coach Goodale said he was going to make a lot of changes and go after guys in the Portal. We have upgraded Hwt, upgraded 149...hopefully we can get Cannon and or Griffith.
