I literally had to leave the student section half-way through the game. Why are the students chanting "F Penn State" on every third down when we're not playing penn state!? These are the same people who don't even know the words to the fight song or first down chant. Chanting that when we're playing a different team is not only wholly unhelpful to our team, but rather detrimental. If you're a rutgers player and you are focused on beating the team you're playing, would you wwant the students chanting that about another team you're not playing? What's the opposing team think when they hear that? What does the country think of us if we're playing a nationally televised game on ESPN and our students are chanting that about another team!? I'd probably think these people were idiots if I saw that. As if the whole mission of the team is to win one out of 12 games they play against a specific opponent and nothing else matters, the other 11 games don't matter!? How about getting loud on third down and helping the team instead of being idiots. I basically told them that unless they're paying 100 dollars and driving 4 hours out to happy vally in two weeks to support their team against this other team they supposedly hate so much, that they should shut up and focus on the game being played, because you know that's what they players are trying to do.
