Uh yeah I get that. I'm surprised because, shocker, I don't exactly keep close tabs on minor division one basketball conferences.
So what, we are in the B1G. Sure, we might be the doormats of the conference in football and basketball, but at least some of our games are on the BTN. Not every body can be winners. At some point we will win in football and basketball, it may not be in any of our lifetimes, but our children will appreciate and enjoy the victories that much more knowing how much it would have meant to dear old dad to see Rutgers win. You have to think long term.
FDU (Coach Herenda) beat BigEast champ Seton Hall At Seton Hall, beat Princeton , and beat RU at RU.

Hell my dad always used to tell us when one of our teams was at the bottom of the conference, " Son you guys are on the strongest team, your holding up the rest of the conference". Or my mom always used to tell us anybody can like a winner it takes a true fan to stick with a loser. That women to this day still loves all the underdogs in sports. And what's that old saying, something along the lines that the older generation always had it rougher. Well that one certainly applies here.
Due to the money that is taken in by the NCAA for the tournament you'll never see the tournament limited to the P5 Conferences.
In 1976, when RU made the Final 4, there were only 32 teams in the tournament. Now there are 64.
How many of those additional 32 do you think that RU would have beaten this year with a full healthy roster? Remember our RPI was 294.
FDU's RPI was 204. So they are rated 90 places better than RU.

I think FDU is a better team right now.
Head to head if games were played at both gyms, it's at least a split with FDU winning on a neutral court.
They were a young team early in the season, but have gelled and they have 3 very good scorers.
Ha ha. They lost to Princeton. They lost to Rutgers. They never played Seton Hall. But other than that.....
And that's not taking anything away from FDU they won their tourney and got to the NCAAs - good for them.
