Chris Ash on the possibility of holding a satellite camp like Rutgers did last year:
“We won't do anything big like that. We will travel around and go do some camps away from our campus. The new rule is the ten camps that we can go to, and will we use all ten? I don't know yet. But we'll use probably for sure eight and if we find good situations to fill in nine and ten, we will. But for sure, we will use eight of our ten opportunities.”
Damon Mitchell on his brother Ahmir’s rehab:
“After the spring game, I was in the ice tubs and he was in there doing some of his rehab stuff. Me and the guys were telling him we were there for him and making him smile. So I feel like that will make it a little easier. But we come different. We tell people we are different and he is healing tremendously fast. It’s a blessing and I just wish the best for him.”

Recruiting Tidbits
QB Kyle Bolin - Rutgers
The Louisville grad transfer will be on the RU campus sometime in May, probably closer to the end of the month. He comes from a very successful Louisville program, where he lost his starting job to then freshman Lamar Jackson in 2015. Jackson went on to win the Heisman Trophy in 2016 and Bolin talked with Scarlet Nation about what it was like going from starter to Jackson’s backup.
“It was tough from a competitive standpoint, being the guy and then not playing and having to watch all your brothers out there perform. But we were so close as a quarterback group at Louisville, all we could do was support one another. There probably was not a happier person in the country, besides Mrs. Jackson, that Lamar won the Heisman Trophy. I felt like our group of quarterbacks helped him do that. We sat together, we watched film together, we worked together and picked each other’s brains. We all helped each other when we struggled in practice or in games. It was just really neat to experience that. I just wish everybody at Louisville the best of luck next year.”
’19 QB Massai Maynor (St. Peter’s Prep - NJ)
Mayor played a backup role to RU incoming freshman Johnathan Lewis last season. He still managed to play in seven games and threw for almost 500 yards on 35 completions while rushing for another 154 yards. Rutgers sent a coach up to Prep on Wednesday afternoon and shortly after, Maynor was informed that he had his first offer. He was very excited about the opportunity and look for him to add more before the spring evaluation is over.
’18 RB David Bailey (North Caroline - MD)
After speaking with the class of 2018 running back, Bailey confirmed that he has plan to make a final decision on July 1st. He recently took the trip up to Rutgers for this past weekend’s spring game and said he really enjoyed the trip. Look for more on Bailey very soon on Scarlet Nation.
’18 WR Lucas Nunez (Cardinal Hayes - NY)
Nunez is hearing from a lot of different schools recently. Along with hearing from Rutgers he is also hearing from Buffalo, Purdue, NC State and Minnesota too. Expect Nunez to land a few more offers this evaluation period and he hopes to decide sometime soon after that. Rutgers seems to be in the driver’s seat in this one.
’17 DB Tim Barrow (Tottenville - NY)
Barrow was at the spring game this past weekend and enjoyed the trip as he will be on campus in two months on a full-time basis. Barrow continues to talk to defensive backs coach Bill Busch who reiterates to him that he should be ready to play when he arrives at RU. In preparation, Barrow is forgoing most of the normal high school activities that take place this time of year in favor of his training.
“I decided not to attend my prom or any senior events,” Barrow said. “I just want to focus on football and I really want to help this program and help turn this program around. I am putting a lot of my time into it.”
’18 DE Timothy Kater (Steelton-Highspire - PA)
Kater informed Scarlet Nation that Rutgers is sending out one or two coaches to his school within the next week or so. It’s possible the recent Army commit could receive an offer when the RU staff pays a visit. If so, it would definitely change a lot of things as he holds Rutgers in very high regard.
’18 LB Vinny DePalma (DePaul Catholic - NJ)
The junior is recently coming off of trips to Navy and Virginia Tech this past weekend. Right now, he said he is hearing the most from Boston College, Rutgers, Virginia Tech, and Pitt. Rutgers has been telling DePalma that he is important in getting other in state kids to join and start building the program at Rutgers. DePalma said he talks with the RU coaches a couple of times per week. He also said he will decide whenever it feels right as there is no set date.
’18 ATH Daevon Robinson (Shawnee - NJ)
As of now, Robinson is hearing the most from Rutgers, NC State, Boston College, Syracuse, and Temple. He communicates with those schools on a daily basis. He also said Rutgers is telling him they want him to come and visit every weekend if possible. Robinson currently claims that every school is even at the moment and he wants to decide sometime before August 10th.
’17 Mike Tverdov (Union - NJ)
Tverdov was back on campus for the spring game, although he has been a frequent visitor to Rutgers since signing day. He is also keeping up with his fellow incoming freshmen.
“All of the signees and myself have a group chat we talk mostly just about RU and whenever we get over there to visit we use it to communicate,” Tverdov said.
He also shared his goals for this coming season.
“My goals this year are just to play as a true freshman, and earn some honors like All-Freshman Big Ten and help the program achieve a bowl game.”
’18 ATH Amad Anderson (Curtis - NY)
The long-time Rutgers offeree made the trip up to Piscataway for this past Saturday’s spring game and mentioned how that day went.
“It was a pretty good trip. I got a chance to watch the scrimmage. I also talked to some of the players and some of the current commits from last class. Then, I mostly just hung out with coaches Ash, Busch, and Williams."
Chris Ash on the possibility of holding a satellite camp like Rutgers did last year:
