I know a lot of other writers are concentrating on the final play where Laviano spiked the ball, but I did not even mention it. My take is that there was 59 mins and 50 other seconds which led to the end result. Even if RU got the play off, the chances of converting a TD were very, very slim.

However, just to give you all the rundown on what happened, Norries Wilson told Laviano to spike it. Here is what Wilson said.

"At the end of the game, the clock management is 100 percent on the guy in charge and I'm the guy in charge. So I mismanaged the situation. Chris Laviano did what he was told to do and I told him the wrong thing. So don't think that he screwed it up."

Afterward, Laviano said he looked over to the sideline, he saw the coaches telling him to spike it and the down marker still read third down. He was asked again and again about it and he handled it well. Here is what he said

"If we ran [that play], it would have been a 70-yard Hail Mary. I mean it sucks we didn't give ourselves a chance but that wasn't the reason we lost the game. There was a lot of opportunities, we could have won the game and we just didn't."
