Where are all the loudmouths who 72 hours ago said Pike should be fired and Hobbs, too, for hiring him (and having a big head).

Great win for the program.
Great win for Pike.
Great win for Eugene, Myles, Geo, and the rest of the team.
Happy for Hobbs, Sarah, and the whole athletic department.

The guys were in the stands on Sunday watching the women kick butt vs Michigan State.

They must have been inspired because that was a gut check win, coming back from down 13 in the 1st half, and never wilting.

Go RU!

Brain, great post! Pikiell is the right coach to build this team into a winner. He's the real deal. He knows what he's doing because he's done it before and has been proven right. He needs another big man and a catch and shoot guy, and with the development of our young kids, there's no telling how good this team can really be two years from now.

I made a post like that. I didn't call for his firing but I did lose faith in him. He was giving an awful defender and offensive player major minutes in close games down the stretch, and it was over multiple games that this observation was made. He didn't make that same mistake in this game. I stand by my post when it was made.

True, but he was playing them out of necessity, because Eugene couldn't play and it changed the schemes and matchups Pike had to contend with. If you noticed tonight with Eugene in there, Thiam was nowhere to be found.

You are right, but some of us think that McConnell, Harper, Kiss could have eaten up those minutes

I don't disagree with your assessment. I think Pike is just trying to find the right combination in there especially when his highest scorer is out. Personally, I would rather have seen everybody you mentioned in there.

Lose faith might as well be fire him. Sounds close enough to me. Just a nicer way of saying he’s a nice guy and all, but he’s got to go.

Victory has a thousand fathers. Defeat is an orphan. Fans are fans. They want it NOW. People are still complaining about Souf and Bullock, and why didn't Pike bring in 4-star players as soon as he got the job? And just why anyone would have signed with RU given that our last three coaches were Fred Hill Jr, Mike Rice and EJ, and the program was at bottom? But now we have Eugene as a jr, Geo as a soph, Mathis emerging, Johnson is emerging, Carter has played well lately, and Harper shows promise. And All-State Mulcahy coming in next year to play PG. Why people are not understanding that the roster is starting to fill up with real players is beyond me. I'm a Knick fan, and pessimistic fans are to be expected. But RU's trajectory is clearly up. Three solid wins already.
Just watch these guys develop and enjoy the ride.

You write a very nice post but your title about FIRE the coach is offensive to me. Can’t you just celebrate a good victory? Why is it necessary to talk about firing the couch? who is the best thing Rutgers has had since Gary Waters

Not a big Thiam fan, but he's not an awfull defender. I don't think you just completely give up on one of your starters either. That said, he likely gets less minutes going forward.

You would be correct.

Great win. Pike did a masterful coaching job tonight, and the players put in maximum effort. The question now is whether they can sustain a consistent effort in the remaining games. But Kudos to the Pike.

Agreed. Find a way to beat PSU on the road on Saturday and that would be substantial progress!

who said Pikiell should be fired?

A 4 page thread entitled, “I’ve lost all faith in Pike”

“He is a magician. He’s got everyone believing despite terrible results.”

“If you cannot win a winnable game, then you are not a good coach...”

“Good guy. But don’t see how he’s the answer... much like Ash.”

“Even though he’s not the answer, Pikiell is just your average Rutgers failure.”

“There are some coaches who actually outcoach others. He’s not one of them.”

“Hows basketball doing? Another Hobbs hire running out of time.”

“This is why Hobbs needs to go. He clearly lacks ability to hire to hire the right coaches to fix this mess.”

I’m not going to spend all night searching out all the comments, but those are just a few since Friday.

My humble suggestion...
Support the team.
Support the program.
Support the coach.

If you support Rutgers athletics, don’t overreact in an extreme negative fashion when things aren’t perfect. (Normal negative is fine.)
And enjoy the journey of ups and downs.

I think most posters are reasonable in this regard.

But the small minority that take it over the top and basically say Pike will never get it done, and Hobbs was an idiot for hiring him.
I have no patience for that garbage on our boards by our “fans.”

Go RU

Damn this is getting tiresome. Are we going to declare Pikiell Wooden every time he wins a game?

I think he's doing a good job, and I believe we will continue to get better. But the onslaught of "he's not the guy" after a couple of losses followed by the "where are those posters now?" after a win is just tedious.

How about we talk about the games, the league, the program, and basketball in general and not each other?

Who declared Pikiell was Wooden?
NO ONE.

Who thought he’s not the guy after a close loss without our best player and no true point guard?
QUITE A FEW POSTERS

I listed some of the negative comments from posters above.
Show me 1 post by anyone that claims Pike is Wooden?
