Why do you think Flood chose to start Laviano over Rettig? What is your honest assessment?
If the only thing you can come up with is relationship and loyalty then try something else. Consider he chose James over Huggins, Grant over Shuler, anyone over Brodie. He's passed many a player on the depth chart that have been loyal to the program.
