Flood's depth chart has Laviano starting vs Kansas...

It kind of seems like Flood is circling the wagons around his choice. With lots of writers in the media openly questioning the move, he refuses to open the door at all. Many posters are totally right that Flood's plan is for Laviano to look good against Kansas so he can remove a bit of the QB battle from people's minds.

If Flood is so confident in Laviano, why doesn't he flat out say "Laviano is my starting QB today and he will be for every game of the season. End of story"

Give Flood a break. Since he was home his wife made him take her out to dinner. So he didn't get a chance to see how bad Laviano played.

If RU football was a vessel, someone would have relieved Flood of command.

Well, I expected this, and am actually fine with it, provided that if Laviano comes out and is inaccurate again, throwing high and behind receivers, he has to get benched in this game.

I can see the counterpoint to PSU. Pouring rain, huge crowd, etc. Now this is a home game, against a bad team, there is no excuse. If he is jumpy and nervous again, he must be benched in this game. No more waiting/growing pains. This is Laviano's chance to prove he should be starting.

what a donkey this guy is. sometimes i wish 2006 never happened.

side note
the villanova delaware game was awesome on saturday..place was packed and the game was exciting. imagine this conference: uconn/ru/nova/delaware/temple/syracuse/bc/umass/pitt/lehigh/stonybrook/new hampshire. would be fun wide open interesting football.. not this weekly skulling by those providing athletic subsidies

Silly if you are suggesting that RU join that morass. We are in the best conference there is athletically and with like minded schools on the academic side.

Full share revenue will completely alleviate subsidies, and then some, which would still exist with those regionally average schools you listed, outside of a few.

Seems like a troll post.

Barring injury, Rettig won't play again unless it is serious mop up time and he is in to be a hand off machine.

Barring injury, Rettig won't play. He will transfer at the end of the season because of it, and rightfully so. The kid has way too much talent to sit behind Chris Laviano. A back up talent in the B1G.

So your proposal is basically to go back to 1975? Very helpful and insightful.

The increase in trolls / lack of analytical skills by those who post on this board is troubling. It cost significant money to run a football program regardless of who you play or what conference you are in. The subsidy would still exist if we are in a conference with New Hampshire and UMass. The great difference would be that there would be little to no chance of revenue increase compared to the TV and conference revenue from the Big 10. That money will lessen the subsidy as well as help RU fund future & higher level coaching staff. Flood was chosen at a time of desperation and low conference revenue stream. It really is not to difficult to understand when you can assemble and disseminate the facts.

Relax, relax. Flood was busy editing papers he forgot the depth chart was due. He just changed the date on the one from last week and handed it in. He'll make updates once he has a chance to look at the tape.

Why don't you send an e-mail to Coach Flood asking if there is anything that Hayden Rettig can do to improve his chances to be the starter. Send it from your personal e-mail account, offer to meet him at outside the Princeton Public Library, and don't wear any Rutgers gear.

Question....

What is the rationale of starting Laviano over Rettig if Rettig is better?

Maybe, just maybe the coaching staff is right and Laviano is better right now?

Well he has a point.

At some point (and I understand why its not yet) RU has to invest like its in the Big Ten, specifically in coaching (HC and assistants). If we arent going to do that (and we havent since Schiano left, and as far as assistants, never did while he was here), then in fact we would ahve been better off in the long run having never stepped up.

But I think we will - probably as soon as Flood is fired. And then people like the poster will be outted as panicky and short-sighted.

Spot-on Cali. Flood made his decision and is gonna go down with it, at this point, almost no question.
