Funny how Martin, and Hicks could make plays last year.
This . And our OL is the same ( less one).
It's a godawful OC who is at best a position coach in lower level conference.
I like your plan. Just stick with the totally incompetent, inexperienced and unqualified OC until we drop. Maybe, just maybe... someday he'll get older and become good enough for his offense to score a point, get a first down or complete a pass.
Have to really question on whether Ash knows how to build a Coaching staff.

You touched on the main problem with Mehringer. He has so little experience that he has nothing else he can try when his main offense doesn't work, and right now we cannot run his main offense.

i really wonder if those were DM or Ash calls. one thing i hated about Schiano was being too conservative. i see a similarity here.
i actually wonder if DM has a complete autonomy on offense. or, are we seeing these stupid calls because Ash is trying make offensive calls that he shouldn't. i wonder.
Ash on Sunday 11/27 better have a meeting with Mehringer to either fire him or demote him immediately and have a plan to bring an experienced OC to RU. It's pretty clear to me that Ash has no idea about offense - otherwise how the hell can you explain the same garbage series after series.
Schiano and Ash have one thing in common they should keep their hands away from the offense.

3rd & 7 and running Oden. Sideways passes. I said after week 4, this Mehringer offense is dance, shuffle, Chuck & Duck.
I live in china now and thus I see less RU football than any of you. With the big time difference and working weekends, I see the scores of the games, and frankly I have no interest in watching repeats of a game that I know ends up 78-0. With my team losing. That being said, here is my take on why DM deserves more time. Beginning of the year, the offense was crap besides Grant and moments from Martin. Laviano had no business qb'ing this offensive system. Everyone except Skyler knew that. But then a healthy Gio comes in. A raw talent that is a much better fit for the O. There was now hope. Overall talent still was the most glaring issue but we could see glimpses of what the offense could be and at least to me, I could better understand Ash bringing on DM and the plan for the future. With the bum hammy, we are now back to the similiar spot as it was with Laviano. A qb that can't run this offense the way it should. Besides maybe Oden in a year or two, there is not one qb on the roster that at this moment can run this offense at all. We just have to hope Oden develops quickly, Lewis signs and is ready asap, or a miraculous grad transfer qb comes. With a QB that can run this offense, I still believe DM can make it work here.
You need to go watch the reply of the game. People keep blaming the OL but watch closely. Many of the broken plays-and for that matter the blocked punt- the blocking was not the issue. People were being blocked. There was a hat on a hat. It was that PSU brought an extra guy at the point of attack that we couldn't block because there were no blockers left. And Drew couldn't write up a play to compensate. There was one play where the zone blitz was coming and the announcers saw PSU set it up and called it 5-10 seconds before the ball was hiked and Drew didn't call out of the play.
