Not a prediction - but who to root for on Saturday: Its all about RU making the Big Ten tourney, finishing 15th or better ... and secondarily about RU getting as high a seed as possible in the Big 10 tourney.

So, who to root for Saturday, understanding RU is currently 5-7 in the league?

MSU over a currently 5-7 Oregon

Wisconsin over a 4-7 Iowa

Michigan over a 5-7 Indiana

2-9 Washington at home over a 4-8 Northwestern (we have the tiebreaker over NW, but let's get them to 9 losses).

Torn over:

3-9 Penn St at 8-4 UCLA ... does RU have a shot at tying UCLA in conference? RU is currently 3 games behind, but also has the tiebreaker having beaten UCLA. On the other hand a 3-9 PSU ... a loss puts them at 10 losses, and buried deeper, less of a threat to RU in the standings. Leaning towards rooting for UCLA over PSU - would almost certainly mean RU won't tie UCLA, but buries PSU well behind RU.

7-6 Illinois at 4-8 Minnesota ... a tough one to figure out who to root for. RU is just 1.5 games behind Illinois, and owns the tiebreaker now. But we want Illinois ot stay or get re-ranked (which makes RU's win look better), so a win by Illinois helps that, vs a loss helping RU have a schance to tie Illinois in the standings. Then there is a resurgent Minnesota - now 4-8, just 1 game behind RU ... a win gives them a real shot to pass RU in the standings, a loss puts them that much further behind. Leaning towards rooting for Illinois - makes our win look better and gives RU a better shot to stay ahead of Minny and get both a top 15 in the standings place, plus as high as possible towards the #9 seed.

Oregon blew a big lead as Sparty looks in control

If the Ducks lose they drop to 5-8 and Rutgers moves ahead of them
Not good for Oregon, they are in a tailspin. @bac2therac regarding Oregon, I know they’re still in the NCAAs as they had huge wins early, but what seed would you estimate them at now? A 7? An 8? 9? Could they actually blow it and miss the NCAAs?

I don’t know, I got no dog in this but refs and Tom Izzo and his status, the whole thing is broken. I’ll explain

Oregon pulls ahead in the 2nd half and Michigan State clearly fouls the Oregon but Izzo blows a gasket and gets tee’d up. Oregon couldnt get a call after that, ball goes out on Michigan St, doesn’t matter they get the ball. They foul, calls stop. They get touched they get the call. It’s really unfair and like I said I have no love for Oregon, just how I see it

That’s why you take occasion technical fouls, ESPECIALLY in home game. Pike never gets teed up, rarely, wish he would get teed up more as sometimes a tech can wake up your team and home crowd. One or two times a year in a home game it can be warranted.

I thought it was a poorly ref'd 2nd half (didn't see the 1st). There were some really strange fouls called on both. First it was MSU till Izzo exploded, then it was against Oregon. It was prett obvious to me.

The foul call he got crazy about was very clearly a foul on Michigan State. Isn’t it a little embarrassing to be screaming about something in front of thousands of people live and on tv that you are dead wrong about? At least pick something iffy

I think 19-12 and they are definitely in

8-12 in league

18-13 7-11 I still like them...remember Wisconsin tanked last year

8 Quad 1 wins

Seeding taking a hit with each loss..but its not like any real bad losses

I hear what you’re saying, but it almost doesn’t matter what call you get the tech from. The point is to wake up/fire up your team and crowd and to then get some make up calls to come your way for your players.

I didn't think it was obvious at all. Neither did one of the TV guys.

Another favorable result for Rutgers as Northwestern loses to fall to 4-9. There are now 11 teams in the Big at .500 or below in the conference standings, who knows who finishes in the bottom 3 and who knows who sneaks into the top 9, very wide open right now.
