The defensive schemes?
On more than a few occasions, the Rutgers defense did a lot of shifting and repositioning right before the snap. There was a lot of hand flailing and all of that commotion did not appear to by design.

The coaching?
Rutgers defensive coordinator Joe Rossi failed to take a page out of the Temple playbook as the Scarlet Knights could not pressure Christian Hackenberg all game long. There were also other gaping holes in the defense on multiple occasions. Meanwhile, offensive coordinator Ben McDaniels continued with conservative playcalling and really do not do anything out of the ordinary. Lastly, interim head coach Norries Wilson continued to stick with Laviano despite his continual ineffectiveness.
