Looking at the games posted by BTN on YouTube. The Michigan and Penn State games run around 2:10. But being at the game most of these games run around 3:30. I know half time runs around 20 min which means TV time outs and such are adding about 1 hour to the games.

These things are getting to long and some of the TV time outs are really breaking up the game.

The other night I think there was a TV break at a time out. Penn State then scored 1 or 2 plays later and they took another TV time out before the kick.

I realize they have to pay the bills, but getting rained on in Nov when your team is not scoring and having to sit there while nothing happens for 10 min with the TV ref on the field really does not make for an enjoyable experience.

The college game has become miserable at 3:30. They need to get it under 3 hrs.
Shorten half time and cut out the stopping the clock after every first down outside the last 2 minutes of each half.

- both the NFL and NCAA has "set" TO's (which come after a scoring play). The NFL then has "x" TO's per game that have to be takent, as well, and typically come following the KO, making that stretch almost unbearable IMHO. They also use some following punts.

- the NCAA has a 20-minute halftime which, IMHO, is completely unnecessary. Rutgers, however, decided to wait about 4-minutes prior to running the 20-minute countdown clock. Not sure WHY I was paying attention, but, I was lol! Anyway, it was a 24-minute halftime, in that chilly air, which was beyond absurd. Guess that had to make sure they got Tim Smith hugging all over his graduating seniors ,and the "shout out" to his retirement, into the mix.

Because paying attention to our offensive performance was like getting a root canal?

Good info provided here . The tv timeouts are slowly hurting the product. It's very tough to sit there for 10 minutes in real time and only watch a handful of plays . Would love to have less tv timeouts and more in game promos during the telecasts, but I doubt that will happen.

Okay here is some more info. Crazy. These are IN ADDITION to each team's 3 TO's per half:

"During an NFL game the league requires a total of 20 commercial breaks per game. These are split evenly with 10 breaks per half, (Overtime periods aren’t required to have commercial breaks). Each commercial break runs for between 1 and 2 minutes in total length.

Of the 10 breaks per half 2 are shown in mandatory positions, at the end of the first and third quarters and the 2 minute warning. The remaining 8 breaks are optional; the timeouts can be applied after field goal tries, conversion attempts (1 or 2 points) following a touchdown, changes in possession (both punts and turnovers) and kick-offs (except the first kick-off of each half or a kick-off within the last 5 minutes of the game). The commercial breaks are also carried out during injury breaks, booth reviews, team challenges and during a team called timeout."

The 20 minute halftime clock is not started until both teams completely leave the field. The head referee stands at the sideline near the tunnel where teams exit the field. When both teams pass him, he winds the clock. Agree, college half is way to long.

TV timeouts hurting the game, the game is too long......where do we think all the money comes from that we have been drooling for?

Teams were long gone. Band was already on the field getting ready to perform. Clock didn't start for a full 4-minutes until after the halftime whistle blew. Thank you, however, appreciate the info.
