Garfunkel and Oates is an American comedy–folk duo from Los Angeles, California, consisting of actress–songwriters Riki Lindhome (Garfunkel) and Kate Micucci (Oates). The band name is derived from "two famous rock-and-roll second bananas", Art Garfunkel and John Oates.[1] more specifically, it is derived from an episode of The Simpsons in which Lisa has competition for the first chair saxophone seat in the schools band. In the episode Lisa has a nightmare in which she is now relegated to second best...culminating in a performance of her new band, Garfunkel, Oates, Messina and Lisa.
