Gary Nova 2010 Chesapeake Bowl High School Ring for sale

Very strange. No offense to Gary but why would anyone buy this? Its not like he was a decorated college player or even an NFL player.

I may be mistaken.. but wasn't' there another Nova (college bowl game) ring on eBay a year ago or so?

How much do you think he will pay someone to take it? Ha.

Why would anyone sell a ring like this? A Superbowl or NC ring I could see someone selling for the cash but a ring like this only has value to him and his family I would think. It isn't like it takes u a lot of space to store it.

On a side note. A few years ago an online auction site a player was selling his 3 NC rings from Nebraska. Everybody knew the player and it wasn't like he was broke. Former teammates got to digging a little deeper and found out that the player had let a family member display them at a restaurant they owned and had filed for bankruptcy. The court ruled that since the rings were in a locked case and remained on the premises at all times they were part of the business just like everything else on display. The court also ruled that the player could not buy them out of the bankruptcy. I'm not sure how it all worked but it basically ended up being to where he was not going to be able to buy them back even on the auction unless he paid the entire debt to relieve the bankruptcy which he could not afford to do. Te day of the auction the rings had been bid up to $5000 and as time got close to expiring the price got up to $21,000. Some guys that had hoped to buy the rings and return them ran out of money and everybody figured they were gone. After the entire auction was closed there was a message that came across the premium board on the NU site thanking whoever bid and tried to protect the rings but he had bought them to guarantee they got back to the player. He was a lifelong fan and couldn't stand the idea of a player losing something he worked so hard to obtain. So at the end of it all the player got his 3 rings back in an unmarked package one day. Nobody knows yet who did it.

Great story huskeralways... was it you?

Zing!!!

In all honesty, I hope Gary Nova is ok, hopefully he's just cleaning out his closet and not in major need of the cash

He probably gave the ring to someone. It seems like a trinket thing more than anything cool

I wonder how much the game ball from his 6 INT game vs Kent would go for?

A pittance compared to what the 5 INT game vs. Penn State would go for taking into account it can be considered the once beating heart of the fan base.

I'll never forget or forgive.

Who the f $%k would buy that ring?

Gary Nova
Gary Nova's Family
Maybe Gary Nova's High School teammates?

After that I can't think of anyone who might be interested. Perhaps his High School girlfriend, who Gary Nova dumped before leaving for college, would buy it so that she could video herself taking a hammer to the ring and then posting it on YouTube.

Oh, I know....... Coach Flood!

Nova has been dumping a ton of his RU and football related memorabilia on ebay. He had an awesome game worn jersey for the Michigan win on there a few months ago. Went for over $400, which I was willing to pay, but they took it off and sold it privately instead.

Chesapeake Bowl ? - huh? - saw this & figured ' showcase game for High School Players' & looked it up - this was the The inaugural Chesapeake Bowl all-star game - - between players from Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey (the North) and players from Virginia, West Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland (the South).

Looks like this game was an annual event for 4(?) years - apparently had to find a different venue every year as it struggled to compete with - - "The Crab Bowl", the all-Maryland senior all-star game.

Interesting to look at the list of participants - have to hope that most of them have degrees by now & have found / are finding the answer to the question "what do I do beyond football?".

Now we know. ;-)

This is just bizarre. Who would want a mediocre college QB's high school all star game ring. Al wouldn't even buy that.

Why pay? He would probably give it away.........

Worst single game performance I've seen out of a QB in my life. However, I felt that Nova was decent while he was here. Never good, just decent. Mike Teel and Gary Nova were basically the same exact player. Laviono was a poor man's version in the pro style offense.

Teel was way more consistent. And his bad wasn't the epic bad of Turnova

Not s super Gary fan. But once he got solid coaching from the fridge he was pretty damn good, save for the penn state game. He played his ass off against Michigan and Maryland that season. He was Big player of the week in that win over Michigan. We missed him in 2015.

Agreed. No need to take any cheap shots at Nova. He's the last QB to bring us any happiness at all. He had some great performances at RU and led us to a much better than expected start into the Big Ten

Was never Nova's fault he was forced to start as a freshman and not take a RS. He was damn good RU man - took a lot of heat, but always played hard for us.

But yeah, ring is pretty worthless.
'

I think Nova and Teel were about the same. They were both good. Laving on the other hand ...
