Great games tonight 12/1/22

Kills me to say it but the Maryland vs Notre Dame game that just ended was one of the best women's game I've seen in a long time. Of course Diamond Miller from Somerset/Franklin HS had 31/12 and was incredible. Frese poached her from our back yard. Other NJ stars were Masonius, Miles, and Mabrey were the other NJ superstars that Md., and Notre Dame nabbed. Md.'s Miller beat ND on a last second shot.
Nice to see Dee Kantner ref the game, thought she had retired.

One of the scary things about the Md win over ND is that they were able to do it without being anywhere close to their offensive potential. Meyers and Pinzan can be more effective from the 3pt line and distributing. I'm not sure if Lavender Briggs is fully recovered from her foot injury of last season, she doesn't look it. When she gets going on full cylinders, she can be as impactful as Miller. She is the more polished player at this time, skill-wise.

They play too much one-on-one that probably won't work once people study the tape on Miller. So unorthodox with her drives. Similar to Angel Reese.

Also watched some of the Mich St -GTech game. Tech edged them out on the strength of their two portal transfer imports (Cam Schwartz-Bost Coll and Bianca Jackson- Fla St). They accounted for 2/3 of GTech's points. Proof of how much the portal is a difference maker if you can land two solid ones. They don't have to be elites.

Also, it was nice to see Coquese's former PSU recruit K. McDaniel get back to her old high-scoring ways. When she entered the portal this summer from Baylor, I was thinking she might be coming back to her old coach, ...would have been nice.

Can't help but mention the performance of Petree a few nights ago against the Cuse. 31 pts. Her new coach is not about to waste the talent that she brings to the table. Good for Lasha, although it does bring back thoughts of the Tim debacle.

I still can't believe how Tim managed the team last year. Lasha showing what she could have done for us last and this year.

During the game I was Googling. It seems like Masonius and Mabrey played together or at least overlapped in some way at Manasquan HS, right?

Plus both Diamonds put on a major display on national TV(thanks ESPN). Miller, and Johnson(sounds like a beer commercial).

Yes, that team had oodles of REALLY good talent. You can see why they did eventually get preseason consideration in the polls last year.

I know I shouldn't ....But, what if we were somehow able to have kept even the last three on the roster who left.....Petree, Walker, and Sanderlin....to go with the current team. Understandable, Walker may have had to sit this season anyway.

Okay, .....moving forward. I think I got the 'what couldas' out of me.
