Happy Halloween to all. Where we live has never been a hotbed of trick or treating, but I expected something closer to normal. But no, one single kid and 3 kids with an adult. That was it.
Incidentally, while we do heavy decorations outside and inside, the trick or treating isn't really my thing. "Trunk or treating" is popular out here and I think that is a great idea. Churches either do that or have harvest festivals because they don't approve of Halloween.
And for those who "celebrate", Happy Reformation Day as well.
Where I'm at is a mixed empty Nester and full house neighborhood.
Usally there's a fairly good traffic of neighborhood kids coming to house.
Afternoons and early evening little tykes accompanied by parent
After darkness falls neighborhood teens come for thir treats and many kids ( from outside neighborhood being dropped off) some young with parent and older ones come to house
trick or treating and very nice doing so.
Never minded that because I went outside my neighborhood to score candy myself when old enough to hit down the road.
But this year very few and if I claim 30 it might be an exaggeration.
Last year was a lost smaller than usual ( and most had masks over mouth if they weren't wearing something that covered mouth as part of costume , but still far more than this year .
Don't know if health reasons are ending traditional trick or treating, of if general apathy developed by adults over the years are making Halloween candy giving a thing of past.
Seems ( to me) more and more porch lights are off every year while the welcome lights get fewer and fewer in most neighborhoods.
Shame if the tradition ends, because it was so much fun to do when I was a tyke going with parent and joyful when got old enough to get the treats on my own with friends, laughing and joking with each outer over candy scored .
