Head Coach Hot Board

Matt Mccall and the Yale coach are not on this board

McCall is a guy who fits my profile.

Jones-A guy with 17 years at an Ivy can't really appreciate what is needed at Rutgers. Jones is a detailed oriented guy. When touring Yale I looked at their gym and saw his practice plan the day before the Princeton game. He had things planned to the minute.
4:50-4:54 Fouline block out
4:54-4:58 1 on 1 rapid fire
4:58-5:15 Review Princeton sets
5:15-5:20 Press work

its not posted because besides Hurley and Sendek this list is poor. Guy from Chatanooga and lifer at Yale are exactly what we do not need here

quite frankly given the lack of attention that basketball has gotten on these boards by the mods and the round table all the while the Jordan stuff was coming to a head, I am not putting too much credibility in their hot list

Especially since what's been going on at Yale with the player dismissed for sexual assault and the unpopular reactions by the players and coach. That's a non starter.

At least "Fouline blocking out" suggests rebounding is part of his package.

I don't like the list. Matt McCall is not coming to Rutgers. Love the guy but he's not going to be asked to interview.

I figured it would be posted here because, well, this is the basketball message board for the Rutgers Rivals site.

Shows ya what I know lol

because for one its not like he is that great...6 years to get SHU to NCAA and largely because of the shady recruiting. Hes just not the right guy for us...RU needs a program built, his strengths are not what we need here

Spot on. Willard cant recruit. He had to hire Morton in order for morton to bring the current core players. If Delgado and Whitehead leave after this year, there not much left

I wouldn't mind a young guy. I know everyone is impatient for Hobbs to hit one out of the park.. but a young hot coach who, if he clicks, might get some real buzz going.. that would be great.. and if he fails, we are no worse off than we are now. We are at the bottom. Swing away. Don't do a long guarantee.. have a small buyout.. if he fails, boot him and try again. 2021 and all that Big Ten money is still 5 years out. Take a chance... unless you can land a big name, big money coach and can afford it... and guarantee he is not just looking for one more payday before retirement.. it is worth it to play moneyball with this hire... as always, imho.

Whatever happened to Amaker?
Doing very nicely at Harvard. Probably can keep coaching there until his psychologist wife feels like retiring from her job running a program at a top psychiatric hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School where she also has a teaching appointment.
