My crew is looking to take the next step in tailgate setup progression and have a TV. My buddy found a good deal on a generator and now is as good a time as any to pursue it. Any suggestions out there? Struggling with the best way to actually get the right networks to watch the right games. Thanks.

Over the air HD antenna will get you the games on ABC (B1G noon), NBC (Notre Dame), CBS (SEC) and whatever Fox has on. Pretty easy to get those channels, just point the antenna toward NYC.

For other games on ESPN or B1G network, one of the guys in our crew is in a granfathered unlimited data plan so we used his phone and the apps to stream last year. It worked out pretty well.

Both Dish and DirectTV sell tailgate/travel antennas and packages. I haven't used them so I can't comment on those options.

Our Tailgate Media Director uses a DirecTV travel antenna. It works pretty well. We had tree issues with it last week, so he put the antenna on the ground in front of his truck (we were in the 1st row of the Blue lot) but then we'd lose the signal for 3 seconds every time one of the buses went by on the access road south of the lot.

I'm thinking of doing the same but purchasing the right generator is holding me up. Don't feel like spending huge dollars on a Honda but looking at 500-1000 watt for $300-400 range. What deal did your buddy get?

We were in the same boat not wanting to spend a ton on a Honda so we got a predator from harbor freight. Had used a borrowed one and were very satisfied. A lot quieter than the ryobi next to us.
As for the signal we had an over the air indoor antenna on the flagpole. Got the standard channels.
I'm waiting on my dish set up to come in, then we will be in business.
