He has Rutgers as one of 5 surprise bowl teams...good to see.

I'll still take it. Good predictions can only help our perception nationwide.I might be overanalyzing but keep in mind his Buckeye pedigree (e.g. Ash) and also that he picks OSU for his playoff.
Including RU on his pre-season surprise list may just be giving Ash harmless props.

Herbie has always been kind to Rutgers actually.I might be overanalyzing but keep in mind his Buckeye pedigree (e.g. Ash) and also that he picks OSU for his playoff.

Actually that's a pretty good guess... that its a relationship vote. As for "th e move"...Of course it has to be that right?
It never ceases to amaze me the depth people here will dig to find a reason something positive can't possibly be real.
BTW, OSU is considered a legit playoff contender by many pundits. If you know Herbie's history you know he felt the need to move his family away from Columbus because of the reaction to his not so favorable statements about OSU's program several years back. Ask a Buckeye fan if they think he's a homer.

Last spring Herbstreit moved his family from Columbus, Ohio, to Nashville, Tenn., but he denied reports that the move was to escape unruly Ohio State fans. He has been critical of former Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel during the school's recent scandal.
“If I would have moved because I was worried about fans giving me a hard time, I would have moved back in 1996,” Herbstreit said Thursday. “It's not like I just started doing this. That's why I'm surprised that people thought that Ohio State fans and their wrath or frustration would get me to move. That's really not the case.”

Herbstreit has had an interesting career. He started out on air just being a pretty boy whose angle on every story was based on his having played QB. Little to no research was evident.
Then he went on to become one of the best analysts out there.. and it showed.
And the last move was to corporate shill for ESPN, toeing the company line on the mighty SEC while also supporting the ACC and whatever Heisman candidates were the flavor of the day.
